We talked about Mahomes last night. Greatest combination of tools that I've ever seen a QB have. I believe that he'll be better than Rodgers and if he can win a few championships we may be talking about him the way we talk about Brady.

He has a long way to go. I think you have forgotten how good 2011-2014 Rodgers was.

Nobody is ever going to surpass Brady as GOAT.

Rogers never had that child like joy in him like Favre. Mahomes has that and literally every tool Rodgers has. Mahomes tools are more developed than what Rodgers had in Year 1. The kid is going to continue getting better.

Mahomes is phenomenal but he doesn't have every tool Rodgers has, or at least hasn't shown it yet. You just confirmed my theory that you have forgotten just how good Peak Rodgers was. The league still hasn't seen anything like it ever.

Maybe I did. I just don't recall saying "WOW" as much as I do for him. I tried my best to be a Mahomes hater too. He broke me. He may end up having the best statistical season ever in Year 1.

Tried to be a hater?!? It should flow naturally, lest you find yourself consigned to a lifetime stuck rooting for bums like Rex Grossman.

Grossman destroyed Brees when it mattered most. Never forget!
Besides everyone can't luck into a Payton and Brees combo. It took Brees a few years to figure it out too. I would love to have Mahomes now but I'm still optimistic about Nagy and (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky.

You didn't think his 23 touchdowns an 9 picks were solid before his suckage Sunday?

He's a one (read) and done quarterback. Is that solid?
He certainly can't improve.

This isn’t true. Tho, he did resort to that after a couple weeks off from an injury.

Context matters here, and (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky doesn’t have a lot of playing experience, and he’s in the 1st year of a new offense with new receivers around him (and only his 2nd year in the league). I think in that context -looking at the entire season he’s had- ‘solid’ isn’t the worst description for him. However, inconsistent is fair too I suppose. I feel like this is a topic that will be easier to call by this time next year. Right now you could technically argue either side of this and not be entirely wrong.

But saying he’s a solid starter right now, isn’t a completely way off base analysis.

These negative ninnies are pathetic. To listen to them, a guy who barely played in college and his first year in the pros is unable to improve. I don't know what gives with these people? Can they remember how lousy virtually every other Bear's quarterback has been since Jim McMahon? Maybe they are so angry at the Bear's organization that they cannot think objectively any more.

In that Rams game, Mitch had a bad game but it was not because he wasn't reading the defenses properly as some on this board allege. His problem was purely mechanical. He was getting under the ball and overthrowing his open receivers. Clearly a sign that the lay-off because of his shoulder hurt him.

All that I know is that the Bears are 9-4 with a very young developing quarterback at the helm. They would be lucky to be 7-6 or 6-7 with an average quarterback on the team. His legs are special and I think that his teammates love him as their quarterback because they know that he is selling out for them and values their play around him.

Also.. I think it’s unfair to judge (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky on a traditional scale for a QB here. How he runs the RPO -when to pitch it, when to keep it.. and so on -that matters too in judging him and how his season has been so far. How many times did he make the correct call in those situations? He isn’t a traditional pocket passer, and this offense isn’t set up for one either. So looking at it correctly would mean taking that into account as well. He’s supposed to make plays with his feet too, and he does. And he’s already one of the best in the NFL at doing that (for a QB)

Adding that detail in, makes the ‘solid QB’ assessment even more appropriate, imo anyway.

I think I am done with Hampton and OB. I flipped on the show at halftime of the 3pm game and all they could talk about was how bad (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is, despite it being the day they won the division AND (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky having a good game.

The problem with this analysis is that running QBs don't typically have a long shelf life in the NFL. If (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is going to be a long-term starter, he will need to significantly improve his reading ability. And yes, he mostly is a one (read) and done QB.

He certainly can't improve.

That's an asshat comment, Frank. Did you read the rest of the thread?

They're terrible. Their only shtick is being angry and that's hard to do when the team is as good as they are.

I like Mitch and I think they can win with him. He is destined to be underappreciated in this town.

However, they should ALWAYS be looking to draft his replacement. I want to have backups that will make the decision about his second contract very difficult

Agreed. This was the Packers' philosophy when they were actually a well-run organization, and I think it is a prudent strategy.

I knew O'Bradovich as an asshole from a long time back, all the way back to when he was a rookie with the Bears. Met him a few times over the years and couldn't stand the prick. What is Hampton's problem, though? Does he let himself get dragged down by O'B?

Um......Rodgers doesn't run? Big Ben ever run? Steve Young? Terry Bradshaw? Fran Tarkington? How about the qbs for the Colts, Seahawks, Tennessee, the Chiefs, and Houston.

Also, wonder if an immobile quarterback like Jared Goff is no going to be the poster child for the new NFL, you might want to have him clean up his britches because he literally shit his pants in his last two football games which his inability to escape a decent pass rush. :bom: :bom: :bom:
