The media fawning over him is ridiculous . He was a fantastic football player who was pretty much a surly fuck his entire career here . He still comes off like an asshole . Absolutely not. He was terrible with the media when he was here, but he has changed drastically. He is candid, friendly, and funny in his interviews now. You either haven't heard him recently or you are letting your bias cloud your judgement. Presently, Urlacher is a great interview.

Yeah. I would probably have to really think back hard to remember someone I actually talked to in person that disliked Urlacher. For me it always seemed the media may not have for their own selfish reasons. For instance, had he been more mature and given the media what they wanted early on we probably never know half the person crap we do about him that was bad.

Urlacher was unlikeable a few times, and he was a total meathead, but yeah - I think he was universally loved. He seemed like a true leader too. The press conference where he stood up for Cutler was badass. I'm sure Urlacher hated him behind closed doors, but he stood up for him publicly. His coaches all loved him too. Seemed like a true team player.
