Change for the sake of change, all looks pretty useless to me.

Reseeding of final four playoff teams is fine, no to the in-season tourney in Nov/Dec.

Just put the 16 best records in the playoffs, making the division winners the top 6 seeds, then reseed after every round.

Nope. Reading is a skill.

The reseeding of teams in the semifinal round based on regular-season record could give the NBA a championship series that includes its best two teams. The WNBA has been seeding teams in the playoffs without regard to conference for several seasons.

Commissioner Adam Silver has been driving this agenda of change -- especially the in-season tournament cup modeled after European soccer -- for years. The NBA is selling the idea of lucrative television and sponsorship revenue that would drive long-term growth and combat stagnation in a rapidly splintering consumer environment.

So I guess "load management" will not be accepted as a reason to rest people? Also, the idea will end quickly if an all-star caliber player blows out a knee in a meaningless game.

The play in games aren't a bad idea.

Could do without an in season tournament.

Reseed all of the teams that make the playoffs 1-16 to start off with. If you are going to do it at the end might as well start it at the beginning.

The reason an in season tournament works in soccer is due to other leagues playing each other. It would be bad in the NBA.

RIP American based NBA. USA basketball finished 7th in the World Cup over the Summer:

1. Spain
2. Argentina
3. France
4. Australia
5. Serbia
6. Czech Republic
7. USA

How you gonna go and lose to France, France?! No one loses to France.

The top candidates for MVP are from Greece, Slovenia, Cameroon. Zion's career ended before it started. Kawhi's leg injury appears to be a permanent fixture. Warriors down to a G-League roster. Lebron relying on injury-prone AD to get him back to the Finals. James Harden punking the league taking boring hero-ball to the next level. Ratings in the American market setting historic lows again this season after being in the toilet last season. Pack up the league and sell it to Chiner.

It feels like the NBA has been mortgaging the future for some time now and the bill finally came. No one wanted to talk about it very much at the same time that journalists dug in hard on the other three leagues + NCAA because being or not being an NBA fan is so pregnant with meaning in a way that no other league fandom is, and no one in media wants to be seen as on the wrong side of that.

College basketball seeds 1 through 68. College basketball has in season tournaments. College basketball has play in games. College basketball has single elimination playoff games.

So all these ideas exist in college.

The actual games are much more suspenseful and hence should drive up the ratings. I wonder how many of those games have featured the Warriors? no one wants to see them this year. They have been on a number of national telecasts already.

This isn't about being an SJW either. The NBA didn't take off because they were a Social Justice League. Guys like Dr. J, Jordan, Bird and Magic were about as Apolitical as it comes.

The biggest problem that the NBA has and has had is that it Markets players and "Markets" rather than Teams and the Game. It works when you have marketable players that play in big markets. Not so much otherwise.

I have always felt that they need to get away from that model but how could you argue with it when the growth of the league occurred on the backs of Superstar players that happened to play in large markets?

My favorite realignment idea is still the one that goes to five divisions of six teams, eliminates conferences, and seeds 1-16. That way there's no more strong West and weak East.

Every team plays home and away against all other teams. Seed a tournament of three game series. Winners move on into the championship bracket of three game series until the championship 7 game series. Players receive bonuses based on where they finish. Consolation bracket plays the same way but consolation bracket plays for the top 4 picks in the draft.

I like the idea of play in games to decide the final two seeds. Give the bottom teams a chance to taste a bit of playoff basketball, gain some experience. Don't have it affect draft order so to ensure no one tanks the play in games.

Probably not a great idea financially though to have the playoffs dominated year after year on the west coast.

Lebron playing on the left coast works better for Chinese TV audiences.
