Lloyd McClendon won't be back with the Tigers now after being passed over. Better get him an interview now and delay things another week Theo. Hell, he was even a Cub so Ricketts will love him.

What does it say when a Really Smart Person won't work for Really Smart People? God, I just know they'll hire A.J. Hinch now.

I have a very bad feeling about this as well. This whole Bi-GM thing with Jed and Theo might have been a bad idea. When you have someone of almost equal power to bounce ideas off of you 2nd guess yourself, dick around debating while life continues to happen around you. Unless Demi Lovullo is hired then they are going to look like they have no clear plan as all the other candidates have been on the table for weeks. If you want Renteria then go fucking hire him already.

They go the Lovullo route Im officially turning in my fandom. Things are bad but to go after ex fucking Disney XD starlets to manage your baseball team is beyond comprehension.

I would guess Renteria but who knows? If I were the candidate I would make sure these next two likely bad years don't count against me.

I think the Ausmus news was good. I did not want him.

I think it might be time to bring back Murph's clown sound. This is getting ridiculous. They're going to get some bobo they are able to control. But hey, since all these guys in the minors are going to be great, just go with a college of coaches.

Who is the guy you want?

I don't really have a guy. You could probably throw them all in a hat and pull one out. I was hoping they could pull Girardi away but we all know what "hope" gets us. Nas and I were about the only two who wanted Girardi in 07 over Lou. I really think they may have missed on Sandburg, only time will tell.
It just seems they are flailing about with no direction after Girardi re-upped. It'll probably be Renteria. He may end up being a good manager, who knows. Until they get some MLB talent, any manager is going to be bad.

yes to this. I think Sveum got the bums rush. He had some quotes during the season that Theo didn't like and now he's gone.

You're right there, Jimmy. Dale may have been a lot of things, but he was no bobo.

Lots of speculation that I'm not sure has much merit. And there isn't a Bi-GM situation, and the Cubs front office setup is not unique.

Yeah,The Cubs already had this setup when they booted Andy McFAIL upstairs and hired that former Mets pitcher as GM.

There is nothing to do but speculate when they sit on their hands like this. If they have a plan and want someone then go get them.

I really figured we'd be able to get a young guy with little/no experience who, nonetheless, has always been regarded as a very cerebral person and player. Ausmus would have been great for the Cubs. I guess the fact that he wasn't a TheoAndJed crony worked against him. Let's only ever hire Red Sox and Padres guys.

I would generally look to hire a catcher or pitcher as a manager so I like the hire.

I figured Guillen might actually be a decent fit for Detroit. Wonder if he was ever considered.
