so the death of yordano ventura got me thinking that "man, you could cobble together a pretty solid rotation out of prematurely-dead pitchers" and then i got to assembling it and here's what i came up with.

1. Jose Fernandez
2. Addie Joss
3. Darryl Kile
4. Yordano Ventura
5. Tommy Hanson (could easily be #3/4 if you go back to the early years when he had a shoulder)
---
6. Cory Lidle (because i still think that early-years tommy-hanson > lidle, who at best would be a solid innings eater at #4/5 in this rotation)

and then for the actual starting lineup alls i know is that i've got a couple positions easily filled out:

C - Thurman Munson
1B - Lou Gehrig
2B - Kenny Hubbs
SS -
3B -
OF - Oscar Taveras
OF - Roberto Clemente (idk if he was a "5 WAR player" like Taveras so we'll pencil him in at #2 =)
OF - Lyman Bostock (cuz a dude who was like ~10-15HR/75-90RBI per season could be useful on this team)

so does anyone have some ideas for my all-dead team, or at least have a rotation that can take mine out? LIGHT EM UP! *jeopardy theme*

Addie Joss needs a spot in the rotation.

Bullpen guys: Nick Adenhart, Danny Frisella, Nestor Chavez, Bob Moose

1B: Jake Daubert
2B: Ken Hubbs?
SS: Ray Chapman
3B: Jose Oliva
OF: Clemente, Delahanty

Addie Joss has to be the No. 1 starter. I think he threw a perfect game and dropped dead.

When they change the rules of the HOF to let you in, you're pretty good.

Put Lyman Bostock in lf.

I guess Marte has to go somewhere as an unfortunate placeholder

you know, as i look through the wikipedia list of MLB players who died during their careers (where i reckon a good # of these "literally who?" names came from) as i try to find a 3B i came across a dude named "Jiggs Parrott" and i couldn't help but think "man wouldn't it be perfect if he died of hypothermia? you know, if a coat drive could have saved him?" -- lamentably his cause of death was tuberculosis =/

and btw, to anyone who wasn't thinking of adding Pickles Dillhoefer to their team...

I was considering putting Steve Francis in the lineup.

There should be more love for the original OJ. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marty_Bergen_(baseball)

A true alpha as he killed his wife (and kids!) while he was still married. Didn't let any strange climb inside his wife before ending her. A man's man to the end.

He also received a single Hall of Fame vote. Might want to check up on the dude that voted for him.

Any all "Dead" team without Jerry Garcia in it is just BS!
