Great win tonight for the Bulls against the Mavericks. Wasn't the prettiest game to watch, but a win is a win, especially against Dallas.

Listening to Reggie Miller, he continues to say the Bulls can go to the Finals if they can land Kevin Garnett. Now, assuming that Garnett becomes available with the team going nowhere there once again, how are the Bulls going to become a Eastern Conference Champion if they are forced to trade 2 players from Gordon/Deng/Hinrich/Nocioni ??

I like what Paxson is doing - stay patient, wait it out, and hopefully they can get Gasol or some other player before the deadline...

Hopefully the asking price will come down...

Don't do anything for the short term. I'm always a guy to says "on any given sunday" when it comes to football. Bears can beat the best AFC team with in one game. This applys to baseball too. Even though it is a 7 game series. BUT IT DOES NOT APPLY TO THIS BASKETBALL SEASON.

There is no way in hell the Bulls can beat either the Mavs or Suns a 7 game NBA finals. Build you're team for next year. Don't tie your self up with a Garnett trade or any other trade that will retard growth. The team can make the finals this year as is. But that's as far as they can go no matter what trade they make.

One man’s opinion…

There’s a good chance this drags out all the way to the trade deadline in February. Memphis is asking for the kitchen sink, they know they won’t get it, but it’s Jerry West’s job to try. So, let’s say the best offer the Bulls are willing to give is PJ, Tyrus, and the pick. I can live with that. Given the financial ramifications, I’d rather keep Tyrus and send Nocioni, but I understand who Memphis would rather have and why. You then let them spend the next 4 weeks shopping around, and wait for them to realize that they’re not going to find a better offer than expiring money, a top prospect, and a mid lottery pick. It’s still a lopsided trade in the Bulls favor, but I don’t see another team that can/will offer more value than us. I think you have to call their bluff, and wait for Jerry West to come crawling back on the 22nd.

I completely agree. Paxson holds all the chips.

As long as he doesn't go crazy and try to get some guy now as so many experts seem to think he should. The Bulls will be good whether they make a move or not; there's no reason to get taken on a trade.

He won’t. He was in the same situation last year and didn’t make a hasty move. They had Tim Thomas’ expiring contract of $13 mil, plus the #2 pick in the draft, plus all their youngsters.

Gordon & Deng aren’t going anywhere, but I wouldn’t call parting with Tyrus and a mid lottery pick for Gasol overpaying or panicking. It’d be good value for the Bulls.

i understand that luol has improved a lot this year, but im not as sold on him as some people. in my opinion he needs to improve his dribbling, he often looks awkward handling the ball. Also, i think he needs to finish better at the rim for a 6'9" sm forward he should be playing above the rim more than he does. As for the bulls i think they are a yr away, this is the first year where there has been real expectations put on them and by next year they should sit on top of the east.

I think that's one of his strengths...

Bucket, I know that "potential" is a very dangerous word, but I'm afraid of losing Tyrus.

If the AI trade is any reference, Pax should be able to do this mostly with picks & prospects. That may mean that Tyrus has to go with a couple picks. PJ will have to be thrown in to even out the $.

The other trade being kicked around is the Jazz moving AK-47 since Boozer's rejuvenation & AK's declining #'s.

If Pax can pin The Jazz & Grizz against each other, the price may come down.

I think Bucket's trade scenario makes some sense and is a possibility. I'd point out that Memphis really wants to dump salary for their impending sale, Jerry West is a lame-duck GM, and they're probably trying to tank for the Oden/Durant sweepstakes.

Those factors could lead to the Bulls getting Gasol for relatively cheap, not giving up any starters (unless you consider Du a starter, and possibly Noc depending on how Memphis is looking at the salaries.) Hopefully, Paxson doesn't show his hand too early.

Deng is the only one of the core players that has superstar potential. The guy can do it all.

...are you saying that simply because of his size or do you really believe that he could be a superstar. where would you rate him compared to some other decent 3's like caron butler, tayshaun prince or battier? Im not saying luol is bad, i just he plays a position that can easily be filled there are a lot of swingmen with comparable skills.

Luol is better right now than any of those three. Ask again in 2 years, and you might get the Samuel L Jackson response:

Ain't the same ballpark, it ain't the same league, it ain't even the same fuckin' sport.

Deng is 21 years old, and still growing into his frame. It's only just begun.

Foot massages don't mean shit.

i agree he is probably better than battier, but i think butler has got him. i hope youre right about his improvement he certainly has taken strides this yr. I think he needs to learn how to handle the ball better even when he gets to the hoop its off a cut he rarely takes his man one on one, something that i think both prince and butler can do better than him.

how many minutes into the game before someone smashes posey tonight?

couldnt agree more. deng has not only improved every year in the league but if you compare his and arenas' 3rd year in the league they are pretty much identical...in fact deng is better in a few of the cats. I think once he matures a little bit and is able to put together 2 decent halves instead of 1 good 1 not so good that he will be unstoppable. i wouldnt trade deng for gasol straight up let alone throwing in our other young talent. the way some people are in a such a rush to get a less then par big man that they are willing to flush our young talent down the toilet really makes me shake my head .
