If you rent one movie this year, make it this one. Just saw it this weekend and it was awesome. It's french so if you can't handle subtitles then look away, this thread isn't for you. Pretty sure it was nominated for an Oscar for best foreign film in 2009. Also won Picture of the Year by the London Film Critics Awards whatever that's worth.

Basically its a prison/godfather movie. Its about a low life nobody who goes to jail and gets taken in by the ruling mafia who make him do all sorts of stuff in exchange for protection. I won't spoil anything but it takes off from there. Fabulous movie.

When I worked at Blockbuster back in my high school days, people would get so pissed when they rented foreign films. I didn't rent a movie to fucking read, give me my money back!

Yeah this movie is awesome. One of the few movies I've seen where The Godfather comparisons make sense in terms of both theme and quality.

Great call on this, shakes. Watched this Monday night and it was great.
