If you know me you know I hate North with a passion. Today I tuned in for my five minute drive to work to catch the Bulls score from the previous night. Mike was talking about contracts (not sure why) but he used his own situation as an example. He said, (paraphrasing) "I know they wont, but if they were to offer me a new contract..........". Did anyone else hear this? It was short but he really doesnt think he'll be around either. Will the Score finally cut ties with this embarrassment?

He did say that, but it's still too early to say he's gone.

Mike, and sometimes even more Annie, believe that management is out to get them, and that they are victims, their line of work is only one where they don't get along with their superiors...It's coming up more and more on that show, but I wouldn't rule out if Mike signs a new deal at lesser $$$, (with the terms not reported of course) - after all, when push comes to shove, where is he going to go ? ESPN 1000 to team with Waddle ? I guess that station would be a possibility, but either way, he's going to have to take a slash to his contract, and probably have less control of who's on his show (Annie).

Mike will be back. He is one of the few name players left on the station. Honestly, who would they put in mornings if Mike is gone. The only other option is B and B, but then who works drive time. I imagine he will negotiate a nice 3 year contract at 500K a year. Sure it is far less than he was previously getting, but it is still good money. I think the contract ends in August of this year, which means he is probably already working on the next contract.

Mike likes this work. I could see him doing a show well into his 60s.

I'd say it's 50/50. The one thing is Pappy has no leverage and has to take what they want to offer. Where the hell else is he gonna go? 9-12 at ESPN maybe. But the bachelors beat Pappy when they had that time spot and they'll work for nothing.

I obviously think the Score should part company with him. But who knows Pappy might charm Mitch into keeping him. If Mitch had any confidence in himself he'd take the risk and find a good morning man. Keeping Pappy would be the safe move. They could offer him 300k because nobody else is gonna give him more then that anyway.

I thought Waddle would stay at WGN.

I thought Kap and Waddle just re-upped with WGN.

It's really such a simple fix. Remove Annie, put a smart guy to balance out North and take away total power from North.

Replace Jen with someone who knows about Sports and hire the hottest chick you can find to read the weather, traffic and some news, if you need an excuse for having her there,

They know what the issue is and I have confidence Mitch will fix it with ease.

I wouldn't be surprised if they tried Dan Bernstein for the less-sports-oriented morning show they wanted North to do. I don't think Fred would hang around for that, though.

Billy Idol knows it, why can't Mitch.

The painfull part is not only is the answer obvious, the change had been instituted with good results. Then Tranny was allowed out of the cage. Drinky was PERFECT for that situation for so many reasons, and they blew it.

I heard Mike say he and BeBe were looking at a farm near Rochelle. He said they were going to use it as a dog sanctuary. Maybe Mike sees the writing on the wall and is looking to get on with his life. I'm sure he has plenty of paper in the bank so maybe it's a possibility.

I think Mike and Waddle would be a good pairing as long as Mike no longer has total control of the show. Waddle is a smart guy who can talk more than just football. I see Waddle taking his time and finding the best fit for himself.

dolphins been praising North for as long as I've been farting around here and I agree, Mike use to be somewhat entertaining when he was part of the "Monters" show. He was a clown and he didnt take himself so seriously. Now he thinks he's Stern when he's not even Rover. He's so full of himself and his MACHINE that he has to go. The Waddle/North possibility is interesting but I just cant ever see North as a listen ever again. He's gotta go. I cant give him the pleasure of my ear space.

He said today that he has 1 1/2 years left on his deal. I hope he's wrong but...

One thought, why do you need a "hot chick" to read anything? It's f'ng radio!!!

North is much stronger when someone else is driving the bus. He needs a strong voice to work against. The problem is that when he is driving the bus he looks for opinions to work against. That role used to be filled by the callers. How many times have you heard him telling annie she, "gets paid to have an opinion". The guy has talent and can be a part of the score. However, the score has not been able to find anyone that can work with north since Jiggs.

No. It really doesn't Nas. Mike and Mike always beat him. He's no where near the worth of a million dollars. B&B are much more popular. Just to make a comprable comparison. Pappy got killed by MJH in the year he did afternoons. B&B have basically tied MJH in just a years time.

I've got to beleive that sombody - I don't know who - could post great numbers as a moring sports talker. People want it. They could take half of Mike and Mike's listeners and add that to Pappy's listeners if they are good.

Who? Where? We only have two sports stations. MJH are fine. Mike and Mike beat him so why would they go local. He's not gonna do nights. I don't see that big market. WLS, WGN, WCKG aren't gonna change there formats for him.

Somebody could produce his ratings for far less money.

THAT might be the ticket--people forget that good ole Number 55 is not just a pigskin guy; he got a tryout with the Pirates (conducted by HOFer Pie Traynor), and knows enough about hoops and even hockey to hold up his end.

This is my 100th post-thank you in advance.

For some reason, some sports fans need dumb ass goof balls to entertain them. Woody Paige? Mike North? Dumb is not entertaining. I'd rather have a stooge like Jim Rose or Giangreico. SOmebody with a little intelligence. IQ's lower than my shoe size should not be hosting anything. Does WBBM newsradio have comedians doing the news? Why does Sports radio rely on "dumb" and "silly"? It doesnt work.

Waddle already has taken a job, he mentioned last night that he will be moving down the dial. Next week is his last with WGN. Either Sean or Rosey is gone-that is the slot that needs help now, we all know it is the great black hole. The smartest move though would be to put him in the DP slot which is the blackest of black holes on the schedule of any station.

Both SHOULD be gone, and if I had to choose it should be Sean, but I'm still worried that ESPN is still going to cram him down our throats.

I've always been a fan of Waddles and Roseys. I think they'll do well if thats the team they go with. A lot to pay Seany boy for nuthin. Unfortunatley for me my 1000 signal doesnt come thru that well out near Rockford especially in the Winter months. I've subjected myself to way too much SCR. I have enjoyed Mulley and Handley and Murph is still Murph which is better than most of the shit on the Score. Still can only stand bits and small pieces of Norths show. Something about Norths show makes me have to shit a lot. hmmmmmmmmm

My favorite show on the Score is Mully and Hanley - they just talk sports without the attitude or talk show host positions, pretty simple formula.

I find myself disagreeing with North on at least half of his sports opinions, but that is mainly because he overreacts to the most recent events/updates as opposed to looking at the big picture. Still, he does have that ability to upset me because I don't agree with his arguments and a lot of hosts aren't able to do that, so, in a weird sort of way, I'll give him credit for that.

I was part of the broadcast on Steak and BJ day when it was held on the first day of the NCAA tourney in Vegas several years ago. I think I only wore my t-shirt once...that day (on top of another shirt). Does anybody want it?
