Is it just me or does it seem like the Bears are a much bigger deal than they were in their last Super Bowl season? I know the fact that they're playing Green Bay might have something to do with it, but it just seems like people are way more excited this time. I don't remember NPR interviewing Doug in '06.

I think the 2006 team was better than this one overall but I never thought that team could possibly beat the Colts. I think this Bears team has as good a chance as anyone. Heck, they've already beaten two of the remaining three teams.

The lead up to the super bowl game was tense and filled with Rex phobia.

I think it's bigger because the 2006 Bears were soft of expected to make it, whereas most people expected this team to be a 5-7 win team.

I think the defense was better in 06. I didn't expect anything from the offense then either. One side or 2 if you include special teams carried the Bears that season.

I think as a team they can will this year. All 3 aspects can carry the team and are capable of so much but they can also fuck up. I'm looking forward to Sunday.

I have to participate in some overt meatballery here, but please don't jinx the team, JORR - they're not in the SB just yet Image

When healthy, the '06 defense was better. But they weren't healthy for the playoffs or the Superbowl. This defense is better than the '06 squad was when it was forced to play without Mike Brown and Tommie Harris.

True. What a big pile of crap Harris had been the last few years.

Don't forget that the Bears offense was excellent at rushing the ball in 06 with Thomas Jones and Benson. I believe they were at or near the top of the NFL at rushing the ball and the OL while old, was still very good. They just had no big play ability which made the game against the Saints interesting and the super bowl against the colts frightening.
