You should follow it up by renting the 25 sequals Eugene Levy has made for it. Should take you right up to game time.

I saw this in the theater and I was chastised by the teenagers sitting in front of me for "laughing at the wrong parts." :?

Teeagers usually get creeped out by old people at the show.

Upon further review a major downfall of this movie would be casting fucking rookie of the year. Dude from Harold and Kumar should have gotten his role instead of the 2 line cameo.

American Pie and Superbad have been the two best teen comedies of the last two decades. There was a time there between Fast Times at Ridgemont High and American Pie were none of the movies in the genre were memorable.

Bad, IMO - I agree with gd...

Ever heard of heterosexuality (and that goes for Ivan as well)? Clueless and all John Hughes movies are entirely different types of films. You two can ponder the difference next time you camp out for the opening night of the next segment of the Twilight series.

Breakfast Club
Sixteen Candles

Both are way better than Fast Times at Ridgemont High, old timer.

Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with you on that one.

Sixteen Candles was decent. The Breakfast Club is the most overrated move of the last 30 years, IMO.

Fast Times was hysterical.

Clueless was just capitalizing on the popularity of 90210 at the time, and the annoying fascination with the culture of Beverly Hills. That said, it was funny in parts.

All thought they are bad I liked Ten Things I hate about you and Can't Hardly Wait. I hated clueless the first time I saw it when I was in 8th Grade. Over the years I have learned to hate it less.

Agreed. I worked at Ford City movie theaters and The day American Pie came out me and my buddy watched the opening scene and then just basically sat their for two straight hours and didn't do any work.

San Dimas High School Football Rules.

Love me some Bill and Ted and they were in high school in the movie. I will also take:
Orange County
Varsity Blues
Dazed and Confused (may be the best of them all IMO)
and the topic of the thread American Pie
I need to watch Superbad again after some time away from it to fully decide of its worthiness

Not a fan at all of the John Huges stuff.

have to go with GD here. i think it's important to point out what kind of comedies he's talking about. "fast times" and "super bad" have more in common with each other than a john hughes film. hughes films were in a different class. they were "adult teen" movies while "fast times" was "raunch teen".

Hughes movies are coming of age stories from a girl's perspective. American Pie, Fast Times and Superbad are from a man's perspective. Knowing that information, it is perfectly understandable some of my fellow posters choices.
