The reaction to Oney was predictable. I think Sox fans are tired of seeing Ozzie refusing to discipline his son and Sox administration refusing to hold Ozzie accountable for the actions of his family. Vigilantiism results from justice being denied.

I don't think anyone feels sorry for him in what happened. We all know the reasons it turned out that way. All I'm saying is that, for the event, it would have been better off had people not heckled.

But if it were Ozzie Jr and Joey Cora that were speaking, and Oney was just sitting up there and never got on the mic, do you think there would have been hecklers? And even if there were still people heckling Oney, do you really think it would have been as loud and gotten as out of hand as it did if he were just sitting there as opposed to having the floor to himself?

That kinda sounds like he was going to speak whether anyone planning the event liked it or not.

I would not be surprised if he was not on the schedule. If he was then the person who made said schedule should think about a career change. This is because they are clearly inept at event planning.

No, I don't think it would have. It turned quickly when he got up there. Because of teh Twitter stuff, people have an issue with Oney. Nobody really has any problem with Junior.

With all the talk about this thing I haven't heard a peep about Hawk being there or getting any zingers thrown his way if he was. I am quite surprised by this.

Hawk wasn't there. I went to the roast and thought it was a disaster. It was going ok until Oney went up there. It turned it into a complete disaster. You couldn't hear anything he was saying, and nobody cared to hear from him. It was a terrible decision to include him in the roast. He was getting heckled alot, but one guy was obnoxious, which is the one that got slapped. He was sitting to the left of me, and he had alot to drink. He stood up and yelled at Oney three separate times. I couldn't understand what he was saying because it was incoherent, and there was alot of heckling going around. He was by far the loudest though, and the last time he did it was when Oney's girlfriend slapped him. Security removed him after that.

That was the only real issue that happened at the roast, but it was a very uncomfortable experience when Oney was up there because you had the feeling something bad was going to happen by the crowd reaction. Once he was done, the crowd was never really into the roast again.

Hawk doesn't come back to town for any reason once the regular season ends. Remember the Sox World Series run. You'd think such a dedicated Sox man like Hawk would want to be in the middle of the once in a lifetime event. His ass didn't leave his winter retreat.

I think the roast was lost with Ozzie Jr., couldn't understand him and it was tooooooooooo loooooooong. To answer bigfan, I was outside smoking when it happened, but ran into the kid after closing Realtime. His friend asked if we were at roast and said this is the guy that slapped by Oney's chick (first I heard about it). I asked why he got slapped, he said because I called her a Caller Bob. I wanted to say than you deserved it, but chose to walk away.

He was sitting two tables two my left, but I couldn't hear what he was saying to her. He was quite drunk though, and whenever he would say something to her, she would get even more pissed off. I wouldn't doubt at all if he said that to her. He just had a big smirk on his face after she slapped him, and he sat down. Security escorted him out of the room a few minutes later. He seemed like a real douche.

I can't guess who ends up being more "proud" of that abortion of an evening - Ozzie, Kenny, or Mitch.

Maybe next year they can get the shoe-bomber to do a five minute hunk when they roast Steve Stone.

The fact that the Heckley used the C word makes the slap even more justified. For me, its close to N word level. That is a very ugly word. I do not think I have ever used it (seriously).... my momma raised me right.
