i felt the same thing about "shutter island"; how the hell does "the social network" get nominated for best picture and nothing for "shutter island"?

because it was released in february. so anything released before the summer, unless it gains a huge following like "the hurt locker" did, it's fucked for the oscars.

A lot of times I'll check out a movie I previously passed on just because of the Oscar nominations/wins. I think most people would disagree with this point considering the spikes in ticket/dvd sales for nominated movies after the nominees and winners are announced.


Colin Firth is going to win Best Actor for damn sure
