Green Bay Packer postgame with Mac and Cheesepants.

Maybe a call from "Phil Simms" could be in the cards.

Hopefully they ask Simms about the dust up with Desmond Howard.

Football season never really ends. It just has a month lull.

True, there are always NFL activities going on, but I'm happy that the repetitiveness of breaking down and previewing games is over till August. Football could cease to exist and I wouldn't bat an eyelash...but that's just me. And I'm right, which makes everyone else wrong. It's a good feeling really.

That's the worst part about NFL talk. There's just too much time between games. I don't need to hear a breakdown of last Sunday's Bears game for 3 days, and I don't need a 3 day preview of the upcoming game. It's just too many people saying the same things over and over again for a whole week. Keep it.

That's why I love baseball. Everyday there's a new game and a new storyline going into it.

I don't really understand the rationale some sports fans have, especially when it involves a rival team winning a championship.

Walked in to work this morning to hear two coworkers expressing how they felt the Super Bowl was "terrible because the Packers won". How in the world does that make any sense? The game itself was one of the more exciting SB's I have seen in awhile. Are Bear fans really that impressionable that even the idea of Green Bay success is enough to piss them off?

What am I missing here?

That's not really true. Every series might have a new storyline, but the media will always find a way to keep a story going, especially if that story doesn't involve who your team is playing (internal controversy, etc.).

My life sure wasn't but as a Bears fan I certainly did not enjoy watching the Packers win.
I sure as hell didn't enjoy the 2005 WS either. To be closely followed by the goddamn Bosox and Cardinals was painful as fuck too.
So you don't understand the sports dynamics involved in team rivalries. I don't understand some guy chasing a tiny white ball over thousands and thousands of yards.

So there is no comfort whatsoever in looking at it as "the Bears lost to the Super Bowl Champions"?

Don't get me wrong, Darko; I completely understand not liking a team and not wanting them to succeed. However, the Bears gain nor lose anything because of what happened last night.

If the Jets won the Super Bowl I would be pissed, but not because how it "affects" my fandom for the Patriots. If the Cubs win the WS it won't make me hate them any more just because I'm a White Sox fan (unless, of course, those two teams play each other in the WS).

I disagree wtih much of this.

Part one, no, sir, no comfort in "The Bears lost to the SB winner" because the second part of the sentence does nothing to fix the first part. The sentence ends with "The Bears lost...".

The Bears certainly lose more because the Packers win. The Bears gave them their invitation to the dance, so it's damaging when they go home with your date.

What did the Bears lose? They lost a game over three weeks ago. That's it. Nothing else. By no means were they guarenteed a Super Bowl victory had they made it to the show.

The Packers played exceptional football when it mattered. Next season begins anew.

Whatever Darko, I'll just leave it alone. I'm gonna throw my shopping cart over into a snearby snowdrift and drive on out of this thread.
