For some reason this is on the Science Channel rather than the Travel channel, but it's basically this friend of Ricky Gervais and Steve Merchant named Karl Pilkington who hates to travel but is sent by them to the 7 wonders of the world.

My friends are really into it, but honestly I wasn't feeling it. Maybe I need to give it another shot but I just didn't like the guy and I thought it was just kinda self indulgent for Gervais. I don't know who this guy is, and he didn't really entertain me or make me want to see him take these little journies. He's just your average surly tourist who is stupid and ignorant of other's cultures and he doesn't really learn anything by the end of them. actually if he did i think i'd really hate the show.

i think i've seen about 5 episodes, and i wasn't really impressed.

This is the same guy they have on with them on the Ricky Gervais show. If you haven't seen that show, you probably wouldn't understand the weirdness/hilarity of Karl Pilkington. You should check that out after your roommate gets the cable back for you.

From all that I have read, Karl Pilkington is actually like this, and it is not an act. This, of course, makes the show FAR funnier than it would be if he was just acting.

I've heard that to, but I'm not completely sold on it. Either way, the Ricky Gervais show is still hilarious. This travel show is decent. Better than most crap on TV.

They claim Pilkington is really like that. I found it amusing at first, for like an episode or two. Now it's like ok? Got anything else? But I'm with you now WZ. It just seems as if this is some private way for Gervais to amuse himself. I tune in to the HBO show sometimes but I keep thinking whenever Ricky laughs he is doing it over the top so the viewer knows what to laugh at.
