It's about frickin' time. You don't want the Cowboys or Alabama or somebody coming in and stealing him away after that 7-6 season. $1.75 mil/year for the next 3 years.

Petrino got $50k and Koenning got $17k and they both got an extra year to 2012. Good moves there.

The one thing I will say is that extensions like this are normally very helpful in recruiting.

$250k is nothing for a Big Ten school. Danny Hope received an extension after last year for going a remarkable 5-7. He did not get one this year after going a 4-8.
