Every time Sean mentions Bob Sanders, the legend of Bob Sanders grows a bit more. A few days ago, Sean informed us listeners that Bob Sanders was "one of the top three most explosive playmakers on defense." High praise, no doubt. But even with an added "doggone," that praise wasn't enough to satisfy Seannycakes. Today, Sean informed the listeners that Sanders is "pound for pound, the best defensive player in the NFL." Leaving aside the question of weight comparison between Sanders and Champ Bailey, who Sean verbally fellated several months back (the 'doggones' were flying, my friends), one has to wonder just how far Sean will go tomorrow when Sanders' name comes up.

Honestly, we all know that the term "expert" is used loosely over at ESPN, but with all the talk in the last couple weeks, I'm starting to wonder if Bob Sanders is capable of walking on water or curing leprosy. You can tell that the experts are too stupid to figure out how Indianapolis' defense has performed well despite their predictions to the contrary, so they all just cling on to Bob Sanders like a barnacle.

The good thing is when the ESPN analysts hype a team or a player like Salisbury has to Bob Sanders, they typically have a bad game. Im looking forward to Benson running his 206 lbs over or for Berian to run right by him for a 60 yard bomb.

Matt, you should e-mail in and call him out about the Bailey/Sanders pound for pound comment.

Bob Sanders = Mike Brown

Small, physical, and talented safeties that are prone to injury. Nothing more, nothing less. Sanders has played in 4-5 straight games now. He is due to get hurt.

I'm too lazy, but you should go ahead. No doubt he'll get all defensive and blow a gasket; should make for hilarious radio.

They would never use that email because it would make Sean look bad. They are too busy massaging his ego by calling Sean "Mayor of Miami."

Well, it's like I told someone on another forum: anyone who thinks the only difference between Indy being the worst run defense in football and them being an outright run-stop defense is Bob Sanders is a fool. It's just that simple to me. Yet, that's basically what several of the ESPN "experts" are saying.

ahh, pound for pound...another seanism. yeah he loves bob sanders right now. he's not an analyst, he's a hypist. if...i don't know, tillman, had not only some great games the last few games but was also being talked about by the other analysts, you'd hear him being called "pound for pound" the best defensive guy out there according to sean. he not only goes along with what everybody else is saying, he tries to act like he's putting his stamp on that. he's like that guy who doesn't give you his opinion on something until you give yours? then he just reinforces everything you just said (if he likes you).

Do you think Rosenbloom gets tired of Sean constantly acting like Rosenbloom is an idiot in front of guests?

Exactly.

[scenario -Tillman has two picks in the SuperBowl, one for a touchdown]

Rosenbloom: And Charles Tillman, Peanut Tillman, had a pretty good g
Salisbury: You think?
Rosenbloom: ame. Yeah, he really stuck out in the Superbowl.
Salisbury: You're doggone right. Ana ana, the Bears best be prepared to pay him top dollar, because the guy makes plays. This guy is one of the top two or three corners in the league.

I'm surprised no one has jumped on Salisbury when he was on Dan Patrick the other day and said Jerry De Angelo made a mistake by not extending Rex Grossman's contract halfway during the season because now he will have to pay Rex more. Dan then asked Sean if he thinks Rex is the long term solution for the Bears. Sean said I think he's an NFL starting quarterback. I think if Dan had more time or respected Sean's oppinion at all he would have pressed Sean harder.

Spot on. In fact, instead of Tillman, you can insert "player x who plays well" and the scenario will play out the exact same way on Monday.

Bob Sanders = Mike Brown

Being a Colts fan and as big of a fan of Bob Sanders as anyone (well, maybe not Sean) I can't even say he equals Mike Brown. While he can go toe for toe in run defense he hasn't quite had the knack for getting interceptions and fumble recoveries. I don't believe Bob has ever had a touchdown in the NFL yet either. He's from the same mold, but he's no Mike Brown. I've met Mike Brown. I've seen him play the game. Mr. OakBrookJoe, he is no Mike Brown.

Salisbury - "I'm not even a household name in my own house." Classic. It never gets old.

*Update! Update!*

Sean declared today that Bob Sanders is, pound-for-pound, the "baddest cat" in the NFL. The legend grows! I hear that Bob Sanders also has "got a 32 gun in his pocket for fun [and] he got a razor in his shoe."

I laughed when I heard him say that. I don't think its a fluke that he rephrased that pound for pound statement.

You mean which one's ass does Salisbury kiss more? Tough one.

Do you mean pound for pound or straight up?

Having seen him play for four years at Iowa and in a few games here and there, I don't believe he can cure leprosy or cover a quick wideout after a play fake. But damn he can kill a running back in the hole when he's play up.
