I bought a 6-pack of the Hop Devil from Victory on Friday. I didn't think it was very good at all.

I am coming around on Hop Slam though. It's much better on tap. A couple of my favorite watering holes have it right now.

I had some this weekend. I think the lack of citrus is what through me a bit on this. I'll try it again. As for Hopslam, loving it.

Wanted to get some Hop Wallop but they were out. So, I'll be enjoying this for the race today...

Strong and sensual, this golden, Belgian-style ale glows. The richness of German malts and Belgian yeast are tempered by a sparkling approach and overall light body. Abundant herbal, fruity notes make this one to savor.

COMPOSITION
Malts: 2 row German malt
Hops: European whole flowers
Yeast: Imported, of Belgian origin
Alcohol by volume: 9.5%

Might (75% likely to) be going up to Grand Rapids (home of Jim Shortz) to the KBS release that second weekend of March. There's a bar up there called the Hop Cat which is supposed to be pretty cool... anyone have any Michigan beer suggestions? I'm going to buy my limit of KBS, but looking for other local things to try while I am there.

KBS is awesome. So is just about everything from Founders, Bell's, Arcadia, and Dark Horse.

Coming to visit newper? I might be traveling that weekend but it would be cool if we met up for a beer. HopCat is a great bar. Walking distance is Founder's as well which is the 2nd most popular Michigan beer behind Bell's. Brewery Vivant is the newest in the area and is in an old funeral parlor. Never been as it is maybe a month old. There is a little brewery north of the city outta the way type place called The Hideout Brewery. I wasn't impressed with their beer but the bar is supposed to be a cool little dive. The B.O.B brews their own beer but the place is nothing like any bar you've been too. 4 different restaurants, 3 different bars, 2 dance club areas, 1 game room and a comedy club make up this (Big Old Building). Keep me up to date if you want to meet up for a beer.

Over 50, I feel like I need to write down a game plan of the ones I have to try or I'll get lost with the endless options. Let me know of any recommendations and I'll report back my findings.

Wanted to bump this link so you guys can check out the beers for this upcoming weekends Winter Beerfest. Let me know if you've tried any I have to have or any you've always been wanting to try. I'll try anything twice and I'll give my honest opinion on them and get any info about distributing in your neck of the woods. Thanks guys, lots of beers to cover so I want a gameplan to cover as many as possible. Tickets are sold out, they sold 5,500 online so it's going to be huge!

Well, I've been charging pretty hard for the last 15 years straight and it is
just one of those things that I don't feel I have very good control over so
either the booze goes or my health and marriage do in pretty short order.
The marriage may not be saveable, but my health should be. Just time for
me to give it up I think. I've had enough to drink for 2 or 3 normal human
lifetimes and I'm not yet 35. Like I said, I'll live vicariously through all you
guys in this and the drinky thread.

Yeah, it's right across the street from Stockholm's. Stockholm's is awful. The beer was ok to me, but the food I have tried was terrible. I had one of the worst bratwursts I have ever ate a couple years ago. I was tasting that nasty thing for about 3 days afterwards. :puker:

Went here today for lunch and beers - was very good. Food menu was limited but what we had was really good. Beer menu is extensive and some really good rare beers. Even tried the Brewdog Tactical Nuclear Penguin. Will definitely go back next time I am in the area.

First of all Happy Oberon Day yesterday. I'll be enjoying my 6er this weekend in front of the grill, praying for 45-50 degree temps.

My first shipment of Michigan craft beers came right before the Trojan Horse took over my computer for a bit. Received 4 6 packs for Jan-Mar. She threw in 1 extra for the 2 month delay. I received North Peak's Siren Amber, Dark Horse's Amber & Boffo Brown Ale and Short's The Magician Dark Red Londoner Ale.

Short's was by far the best, had it after steak and it was the perfect mix. Light enough to enjoy a few and a good after taste.
The Siren Amber came in a small medicine looking bottle which had some cool factor to it. Good average Amber beer, easy to drink 2 or 3 in a row and not feel overstuffed.
The Dark Horse Amber was very good, on level with Short's but Short's had something that put it over the top. Only had 1 of these so far but enjoyable beer.
Dark Horse's Boffo Brown was tough for me to choke down. It was heavier and a nuttier after taste and I gave it the college try but don't plan on finishing the other 5 anytime soon. Wife is looking into using it for cooking. Probably some delicious beer bread.

I'm not a good reviewer since I can't really pick out the flavors or anything but let me know if you want anymore info on these four or any MI beers you've been wanting to try.

Good to hear you made it out to there. Didn't see this when you posted it a few weeks ago. I need to get back there soon. It's been a few weeks for me.

Anyone like Brown Ale beers? I received a 6er of Dark Horse Brewing Company's (Marshall, MI) Buffo Brown Ale in my monthly shipment and only could choke down one bottle and we used another bottle for Tastefully Simple Beer Bread. I have 4 bottles left and if anyone is a Brown Ale fan I'd love to send them your way. I know I didn't really sell it all that well but I'm not a big Brown Ale guy and this beer confirmed it. I'll take something local in trade but really I just want someone to enjoy them so let me know.
