He's talked like that on the air for 20 some odd years...he was just on XRT at 7:45 this morning too.

I liked when he came out to Voodoo Child. I heard Mongo in an interview say Hulkster paid the Hendrix estate $650,000 a year to use the song!

Absolutely can NOT stand the Regular Guy bit. I'm amazed that it has lasted as long as it has on XRT and I like listening to XRT even though they are a little too "commercially".

Thunderstruck? It could go, but I don't hate it.

I agree...but when it comes down to it, it's a 5 minute segment done 4 times a week along with 5 minutes during Saturday Morning Flashback. As annoying as it is, it doesn't turn me off like some other worn out bits done elsewhere

I don't mind it, but I prefer older AC/DC. The problem with this song is that it's played on too many shows...Mac's show, Ranger's Sox shows, Batt Amattacola's shows, Before Sox games live, etc...it's overkill.

Thunderstruck is old and tired, just like Mac's show. He's too lazy to put in any work to change it.

Enjoy it ALSers, it's yet another sign that he doesn't give a fuck. That's when he's at the top of his game.

Oh Joe Cowley, stick to bad baseball thoughts. This has been bad for the NBA as a whole. Look for the Franchise Tag in the next CBA to help prevent this

IIRC one of the on air personalities heard this guy doing his movie review on the bus on several occasions and thought it was funny and might work on radio. It has gotten a bit stale, but I still think most of the time his reviews are more in line with what I find enjoyable in movies than not when compared with other reviewers.

Plus, let's not forget the special XRT Cub opening day piece he does every year. Now that I can do without. Nothing like drumming up failure after failure.

Give me Ronald Belford Scott era any time! I would've loved to have heard Back In Black with Bon singing.

93XRT became "commercially" when Diamond Broadcasting sold "Chicago's Finest Rock" along with WSCR 670 The SCORE to become part of the giant corporate portfolio that is CBS Radio about 10-15 years ago. As for "The Regular Guy" himself, why does the guy sound a lot like WXRT part-time jock Marty Lennartz?

Understand. I dislike them too, although they have had some catchy tunes. Thunderstruck isn't one of them. In fact, I'm not sure if there are even lyrics to that thing (except for the goofs going "hmm-mm-mm-mmmm")

I like the song. Reminds me of one of my friend's older sister's boyfriends. He was hot!

The "Regular Guy" is a character played by WXRT DJ Marty Lennartz. I generally find his reviews pretty funny.

Nice correction. From an interview with Marty.

Rick: I am a big fan of "The Regular Guy." It seems he has been a part of WXRT forever. What is the origin of that character?

Marty: I was producing Terri Hemmert’s morning show in 1984. At that time XRT was running a daily one minute Roger Ebert movie review/news feature. It had been on for a maybe a couple years when one day it ended without any explanation. I thought, wouldn’t it be funny if on that first morning without Roger, in his place would be just some guy reviewing a movie. So, I reviewed Mel Gibson’s remake of “Mutiny On The Bounty”. I did it in the same format as Roger’s except instead of “At The Movies”, I called it “Goin’ To The Show and I’m Just A Regular Guy” and did a little minute and a half thing. It went over well and I was told to do it again and I said, “do what again? That was it”. Who knew?
