Agreed. Jerrance Howard has been a major improvement.

But one could easily make the opposite case--that the perceived disparity was a misperception because Weber was hampering Deron Williams's progress, a reasonable conclusion given Williams's meteoric rise once he entered the NBA.

If only Weber could hamper Demetri McCamey's progress en route to a 37-win season and 5 points away from a National Championship.

Are you honestly contending that Weber got the most out of Williams while he played at Illinois?

Williams broke his jaw Sophomore year and missed half the season. He lost a bunch of weight because he couldn't eat and when he came back it took him a while to get his game back. Then, they made a run in the tourney.

Junior year, they won 37 games.

I have no problem with what Weber got from those players and teams.

If we are to say that Weber did not get the most out of Williams then shouldn't we also say that he made Dee Brown a significantly better player than he actually was?

I think Weber did an amazing job with that team. It's the Shuan Pruitt era that most makes me scratch my head. He went into his senior year as an All-Big Ten selection and one of the leaders for Big Ten player of the year.

This has been a very entertaining read. Now that BoilerRick is back in full swing it can only get better. This quote Dr. Ken made in response to The Tall Midget is the perfect eight(8) word summary.

It's possible. I do think UofI is more aware of that stuff than some other schools just because of their bad track record in that area - Guenther, in particular, since his mandate on coming into the job was to make sure the Mike White, Deon Thomas-type headlines were in the past.

When I lived in Champaign my best buddy's dad was on the staff. I hung out over at White's
house at least once. Another coach lived next door to us. White's daughter was on PM Magazine
and I remember her being pretty hot back in the 80s, although I can't find an image.

12 turnovers almost bit the Illini last night but they escaped. At Michigan St and
at Ohio St are gonna be tough. Their NCAA lives are on the line as they also
have one at Purdue between games against Iowa and Indiana. If they don't
get to 20 or 21 wins you can put them in the NIT. That would be a let down.
Even with 20 and if they get in they'll be a 9 or 10.

Are you excited for the upcoming Demetri McCamey Senior Day?

Sure. I heard he was going to invite his family but, then, he just didn't get around to it.

He'll do it next game.

I have missed Irish Boy's thoughts this season. Is he a Weberophile like Dr. Ken?

Illinois forgets how to play offense in the last 4 minutes of the game?

That's never happened before !!!!!!

The first 10 minutes of that game were tough to watch. Illinois couldn't miss and somehow Weber had designed a gameplan that caught Purdue sleeping. They were able to adjust.

It was clear that McCamey was taking over the game at the end. The problem was that Purdue knew it too and played him accordingly.

I predict Illinois to beat Penn State and Ohio State in the BTT.
