I haven't watched any award show like that in years. I think they all suck and bore the living shit out of me, but even the usual supporters of this kind of shit on the E channel, etc. said that it sucked?

Now I have no idea why one award show would suck and one is good? But any truth? and why?

My guess is it's a combination of people expecting the hosts to be bad, the hosts doing little to change anyone's expectations and a lack of excitement for many of the movies.

Anne Hathaway is a very good actress with a bright future but she does not have the personality to cohost an event like this.

Same with Franco.

Their hosting is far superior to your posting.

A basically non interested/high James Franco, a giddy & goofy Anne Hathaway and Kirk Douglass uncomfortable moments really sums it up.

IMO, Billy Crystal always does the best job. He's good at being an entertainer.

Franco dressed as Marilyn Monroe-Yeah,real classy. Would they ask Al Pacino or Charlton Heston to do that? The guy sucked major wad as a host. Ann Hathaway was OK,but leave hosting to the comedians.

Unintentional funny moment-The guy who won for best documentary bitching that all the CEO's who have been ripping people off during the financial crisis are not in jail. Hollywood applauds BUT its ok for Hollywood to charge 30 bucks for a BluRay when it costs about 55 cents to produce. Hollywood is full of "more profit" types.

The Kings Speech- This looked like a made for TV movie. Once again,a movie not that popular gets the nod. Hollywood keeps ignoring the moneymakers even though in recent times they have been better.

The unknown bitch saying the F word on live tv. In about 2 years she will play someones mom on a CBS comedy (if she's lucky)

Coming attractions for the movie Source Code look pretty good.

Jimmy Kimmel just had some of the hottest actresses in H'Wood performing simulated humping in a very dumb skit on his after oscar show:

Went to Chens for to pickup a combo rice and the bar area was filled with Gay guys watching the Oscars and Frankie, my guy who owns the place was busier than a Saturday night. He said he is doing an Oscars special next year..

Bob Hope was popular before my time, and I had always thought of his humor as fairly lame, but the retrospective presented by Billy Crystal impressed me. Hope had just the right amount of deadpan -- I can see why he hosted for so many years.
