channels.

Signed up for the NHL Gamecenter and NETFLIX, trying to figure out the music channel thing, Pandora?

wtf happened to Netflix inventory? had them years ago and they used to get the latest and greatest, now their movie selections look like what comcast offers free on PPV. The TV show DVD's are nice. Trailer Park Boys, :D Haven't seen if they have Larry Sanders Show.

Streaming netflix has a limited selection. Their dvd mailing service has much, much more. I have a roku, but only have Netflix on it. Most of the movies you get do suck, but they throw in 10-15 solid selections which is good for someone like me who watches movies once a week or so. Also, the selection changes every so often as well.

What I've noticed about streaming Netflix is that it is directly tied into what movies appear on Starz (as far as "first run" type movies go)...as movies get older, they appear...I've enjoyed it for some of the older movies I catch on there (Network, All The President's Men, True Stories). I still get 1 dvd at a time from them as well, so I go that route, or I drag my ass to the Red Box if I want something newer.

Ah, that explains why Netflix kept pimping the 9.99 per month plan when i was signing up. i'll have to switch my plan to that now. thanks for the info.

In very limited use, not too impressed by the Roku box. NHL streaming at 1080p was a bit choppy. I ordered up a new cable modem (
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WIK61I ) and some CAT 7 cabling. Maybe that will improve the HD experience.

And the USB-in port is great to have, cept it plays limited file formats (stock it doesn't handle AVI files, might be a hack out there to get em to work).
I've a couple $59 USB Philips dvd players that play just about any file you throw at em.

I had that same problem with Gamecenter on my PS3... if you have a decent laptop or computer, I would just use that...

Roku is great for streaming Radio Paradise; it shows a high-def screen show on your TV, themed to the music playing.

Sjboyd, I just picked up a three movie box set from buy.com of All the Presidents Men, Network and Dog Day Afternoon for 9.99. Each movie has an extras disc with interviews and Making of documentaries. I've watched the extra disc from All The Presidents Men and it was solid. Jason Robards interview on the Dinah Shore show was interesting. She was a surprisingly good interviewer.
