Waddle won't work night shift for long
Ed Sherman weighs in on Tom Waddle's move from WGN-AM 720 to WMVP-AM 1000.

Tom Waddle will eventually see the light of day at WMVP-AM 1000.

The former Bears receiver officially signed on with the station Wednesday. He will make his debut on Feb. 26 working the 7-9 p.m. shift with Marc Silverman. Carmen DeFalco will be reassigned.

MVP officials won't admit anything, but expect Waddle's night shift to be temporary. You don't lure one of the most popular sports personalities in town and stick him in evenings. Also, Waddle is said to prefer having his nights free to spend more time with his family, which is one of the reasons he left the 7-9 p.m. slot with David Kaplan on WGN-AM 720.

"I'm going to do what they ask me to do, just like when I was playing," Waddle, ever the team man, said.

It seems likely Waddle will pull into the 9 a.m.-noon slot to replace Sean Salisbury. MVP could also make a wholesale change and blow out co-host Steve Rosenbloom too, bringing in another partner for Waddle.

Waddle said he had a "tremendous time at WGN," but he believes going to an all-sports station offers him more opportunities. That also could mean some television work on ESPN, as his contract with WFLD-Ch. 32 expires at the end of the month.

What crap! Why do they need to put him on at nights first? Just make the freakin' move and fire Salisbury!

If there is any bright side, I absolutely just LOVE how Salisbury is reading in the papers that someone might be replacing him. If he's not reading it, you better believe someone that knows him is and is letting him know.

The end is near for that fucking piece of garbage horse shit of a broadcaster and person.
