That's been the rumor since the opening. All parties started by steadfastly denying it but it's a natural fit.

I'll be happy to see him leave Mizzou. Good coach.

First name I read associated with the Mizzou job if it is open is former Purdue star and assistant Counzo Martin at Missouri State.

I read that early but I read his name for every single opening in the nation so I assumed it was just normal "this is a mid major coach not playing any more" bullshit. Tubby was mentioned early too, and he parlayed it into an extension and raise at Minnesota, so well played Mr. Smith.
