Can the animation community stop pretending that Joan Cusak has an interesting voice that is beloved by the public?

i was wondering why this movie was such a huge bomb. i think it was based on a children's book which i thought would at least give it a following; and the premise seemed cute.

word on the playground is the smaller ones don't like the idea of mom being stolen and taken to Mars and the young male demographic has no interest in a mom themed movie. It's as if there is no target audience for this to appeal to.

She really brings toy story 2 & 3 down. I'm with you, dolphin. Thing is I don't think her voice is super recognizable. I hear it and think that's annoying and then I find out it's her and think yuck no wonder why I didn't like it.

I didn't hate the movie and the kids seemed to like it.

I agree that the theme of aliens stealing mothers in the middle of the night is not a feel good for the younger kids. I'm not sure the male kids appreciate asexual reproduction and male children being thrown in the garbage at birth.

is this movie supposed to be funny? it sounds pretty fucked up. we rented "Coraline" one night and my 7-year old freaked over that, this sounds even spookier.

yeah it was a light hearted movie, at least it's meant to be. "coraline" was not a children's story. gaiman doesn't really work that way. it was just promoted the wrong way.
