VCU came out hitting 3's, and took an early lead... Butler stayed with it, and now has taken a one point lead with about 4 minutes left in the first half.

34-28 Butler at half.

Butler looks like the more experienced, under control team. VCU shot 11-27 as a team, committed 12 fouls, and 7 turnovers in the first half.

34-28 Butler at the half

Good composure by Butler in the first half, they managed to fight through that full court press VCU puts on and take the lead late.

I'm pretty sure Butler is winning 34-28 at the half.

Barkley is sticking by his pick saying the press will wear down Butler towards the end.

The game could get close again with a few 3's from VCU, but upperclassmen leadership is no joke in the final four.

Fuckin Barkley

Because they have more players they will wear down Butler

Butler should be inviting this press and breaking it with force, they've had some opportunities but have missed some shots.

I love Chuck, but I think he is clueless on this one. Butler could be up by 10-12 if they could make a layup on the press. I don't think at this point any press is doing to wear down Butler. If VCU keeps the press going, Butler is going to get some easy points. They aren't going to miss those layups this half.

Honestly, the most important thing about this game is which of these coaches will get the better job in the long run. Does Shaka's up tempo paced/ PG driven offense translate more to the NBA? Is Brad Stevens just gonna sit and wait for Coach K to croak?

Butler with the lead 52-45 with 9:30 to go

Good run by the Bulldogs right there

I could see S.Smart going to the ACC in an attempt to keep recruiting ties, I doubt he'd want to jump right into the Big East or anything. NC State, Miami, G.Tech, Wake Forest?

Smart will be on the short list for Mizzou. They have the athletes returning to play his style of game. I think it would be a real good fit.

That's cool. As long as he doesn't go too far West. Some of the best prep Bball is played along the south Atlantic coast. With the little research I've done on the guy, he seems like a real legit person. He was referencing John Keats in an interview! For an English nerd like me that's unbelievably great. He'll have no problem recruiting kids with that type of thought provoking motivational style. And his coaching philosophies don't seem half bad either.

I think B.Stevens is now a proven commodity after two final fours before the age of 35. His defensive emphasis, and always calm demeanor is very valuable in today's college basketball.

Other than the possible 4 point play, what other stupid decision has there been?

You could tell by watching VCU's players hadn't been there before. Great game though.

Is Shelvin Mack a legit backup PG in the NBA? Averaging over 20pts/game for the tournament.
