Lot's of overreaction on here. The game was bad. It happens. Butler was an 8 seed for a reason. Butler almost lost to Old Dominion in the first round for a reason. They weren't that good. Look back at the "run" they made. They won a bunch of close games and beat Pittsburgh. They were lucky to be there.

They were much better last year. They lost a lottery pick from that team.

It was a great tournament with a very bad title game. UCONN might as well not even hang a banner though because this one will be voided soon enough.

I wouldn't call Butler lucky to get the the final game. They did beat Pitt, Wisconsin and Florida, top teams from some of the best leagues.

The Pitt win was good. Wisconsin under Bo Ryan has been really bad in the NCAA tournament. Florida was considered a really weak 2 seed.

Lucky may not be the right word but fortunate to pull out a bunch of close games against beatable competition. They were an 8 seed for a reason.

I agree for the most part, although I would say that Butler maybe are better than an eight seed and teams like Wisconsin, Florida maybe other (sorry to say Purdue) teams may have been overated. I don't think the difference between eight seeds and one seeds are as great as they were 20 years ago.

This is not directed at you BR, but one of my peat peaves is just that I just hate the use of the word luck in describing a teams success. Maybe in one game where a team wins on a hail mary pass or a half court shot, sure thats luck. But over a course of a season or tournament I believe most teams are given breaks or lucky bounces, but not every team takes advantage.

People kept talking about how the Bears were lucky that they played a bunch of second string or third string Qbs. But all the Eagles had to do is beat two backup QBs in the last two weeks of the regular season to lock up the #2 seed. They lost to Joe Webb. They were presented with a break but failed to capitalize.

All Kansas had to do was to beat the #16, #9, #12 and #11 seeds to make the Final Four (the highest rated team was Illinois  ). They were given a lucky break and they failed. In terms of luck, Kansas had more luck than Butler.

In my opinoin, what can be fixed, is to make players stay longer than 1 year, say you can go from high school or go to college and stay at least 2 years.

The rule should be: Jump to NBA or stay 2 years in college. The NBA players union has proposed something similar. A lot of theses lottery type players just stop going to class after the tournament, so I don't think you can just have a blanket 2 year rule.

I agree with this, and hopefully after the awful game last night, the good thing that can come out is a rule like this.

With College Basketball as bad as it is, that's why I can't buy the Butler run, of their wins in the tournament, maybe the 1 win you give them credit for is Syracuse last year. They beat Utep, Sienna, Syracuse, Kansas State, a beat up Michigan State, and this year, ODU-8,9 game can go either way. Pitt- was Pitt really a 1 seed and it was the easiest bracket, Wisconsin couldn't hit a shot, and FLorida, like Brick put, was not really a 2 seed and then a VCU team.

To put Shaka Smart with Brad Stevens, these guys might stay at their college, but how good are they really, to me they are taking advantage of the system, and if it changes do these guys go away, unless they take the big job.

Lastly, I know some people won't agree, but the big winner of this year's tournament was College Football, you may not like the BCS, but the regular season matters, and 1 bowl game may matter, but in their big bowl games, you have a matchup of good teams.

How embarassing, the women's title game will be higher scoring.
