They played a near perfect game yesterday. Ozzie must have had a boner during the sequence of Ramirez getting on and stealing, Lillibridge driving him and and stealing and Pierre driving him in. I fully expected Pierre to be going in that situation.

For starters, Mark Zerang was the White Sox, Bears, Bulls & Blackhawks radio engineer who passed away in November, and Ed Farmer wasted little time recognizing Mark's contribution to the team's broadcasts before and after the Sox put the Rays to bed in the home opener. Ranger also posted a photo on his Facebook page in which the JumboTron in centerfield recognized Zerang, complete with a moment of silence before first pitch.

As for yesterday, I think you couldn't have scripted a better home opener for the White Sox, complete with a sold out crowd, timely hitting and a dominating performance from the same Edwin Jackson who no-hit the Rays as a member of the Diamondbacks before last July's trade to the Southside. Best of all, Jackson gave the Sox much-maligned bullpen a breather going 8 innings, allowing 1 run and striking out 13 in a 5-1 win. What more could you ask for?
