It does seem the health of the board is directly proportional to the level of asskissery that is being directed toward Mac.

It is. I used to think people were just giving him shit, but since he discovered Facebook as a place where lames will line up and kiss his ass with no hint of criticism directed toward him, he totally shits on the board. Yet he still reads it, mentions it on his show, and pops up occasionally to requst that people ask him questions....

On Facebook people have their name directly associated with whatever they post so no one has the balls to tell him that the show has been steadily getting worse for month. The show is worse because of both Mac and Spiegs. They don't work well together.

I've actually become a much bigger fan of Spiegs the more I take in. Both of them would benefit from new partners.

I'm still relatively new, but to think that this board wouldn't survive without Mac's contributions is hilarious. Sure he might have been important in getting it off the ground, but at this point enough real life connections have been made to keep it going. Plus, there is always boredom to kill at work.

As a point of clarification from one of the earlier members of the board, Mac had absolutely nothing to do with getting this board off the ground. He came to it because of it's popularity and opinions, not the other way around. There was a May 1 meltdown several years ago that might shed more light on the board origins.

It's the exact opposite. This board is stronger than ever, and Mac's absence hasn't mattered at all. By virtue of running the March Madness tournament I have a pretty clear recollection of how easy or hard it was in order to fill the field the past 3 years. This year was by far the hardest, even with 3 extra spots. I couldn't even consider people under 1,500 posts because of it. Telegram Sam and stoneroses would have easily been in before. Mac was even in the first one. It's obviously only my opinion on who deserves it or not but other years I struggled to find enough people to include.

For whatever reason, Mac's acquaintances have stopped posting or post a lot less on here. STU-GOTZ, Gridiron Assassain, and others aren't around much but it hasn't really mattered. He probably spends less time here too, which is fine. Facebook is probably better for him. It's not anywhere close to this board and never will be. It's just a way for people to contact him but no one really cares if he chooses to interact with us here. The only person that is vital here is bigfan. Everyone else is replaceable. I think most of us have really enjoyed the "Ask Mac" segments but I've never said that this board needs it. I think that's pretty obvious since there has been like one of them in the past year and no one really noticed. Ironically, Mac bringing up how the board is dying is the only way in which it gets mentioned. I still like you Mac, and I really like you with Goff, but this board isn't dying. We've lost more active and better posters than you and it survived. Unless bigfan pulls the plug that will continue.
