That more or less sets the market for Prince Fielder. 21 million a year. Might be able to get away with a bit less for Prince since he doesn't have the glove Gonzalez has, but I can't imagine it going below 18 to 19 million

WHO SAW THIS COMING?!?!?!

Wow. This changes the landscape of everything.... nevermind the persistent rumor that some odd luxury tax thing caused them to sit on this deal even tho it was agreed to right after the trade... just wow. I'm flabbergasted. I think it's going to take a John Lackey start tonight to knock this sense of amazement and wonder out of me.

Any NL team signing Prince to a 7 yr deal is making a HUGE (pun intended) mistake. He's a bad 1st baseman at 27. I don't think anyone wants to see how bad he'll be at 30-34.

Agreed. What would you give him for the Sox to be the 1B for awhile and eventual DH?

The Red Sox are turning into the Cubs with these idiotic contracts. Both Gonzalez and Crawford are hitting the downside of their careers and they get 7-year deals for over $140m?
