Well most of it was assumed but now it's confirmed.

- Pappy and his sponsors are tight. Any thing short of murder Pappy's sponsors response will be "He's a great guy. I had a few laughs with him at a bar and he bought me a drink. We have freedom of speech in this country don't we?"

- Mitch and Paul are nervous about his actions. They'll give you the corporate response. "We don't endorse those comments." But until it hits the papers they just wait until it blows over. In the end their goal is to keep their jobs. So suspending Pappy would reflect bad upon them. If it hits the media then they'll act but not before that. I'm pretty sure they are marking off the days of Pappy's contract on the Score calander however.

- Our media reporters in town just look for wire stories to recite in their own words. Or they just recycle the same drivel from last years column. They slightly change it for the time. I doubt they even have to show up at the office. If they do they pretend to be typing when the boss rolls by.

- Fred still doesn't have a back bone.

- Annie is one degree off on the temperature every day.

- Jen's biggest concern is picking out her outfit for work.

- Rock still thinks he's next in line. He loves everybody he works with too.

Quotes

Holden: If the buzz is any indicator, that movie's gonna make some huge bank.
Jay: What buzz?
Holden: The Internet buzz.
Jay: What the fuck is the Internet?
Holden: The Internet is a communication tool used the world over where people can come together to bitch about movies and share pornography with one another.
--------------------------------
Banky: Stop the movie? What are you, crazy?
Jay: All these assholes on the internet are calling us names because of this stupid fucking movie.
Banky: That's what the internet is for. Slandering others anonymously. Stopping the flick isn't gonna stop that.
Jay: This isn't fair. We came to Hollywood, I fell in love. Fuckin', we got shot at, we stole a monkey, and I got punched in the motherfucking nuts by a guy named Cock-Knocker.
Banky: You know what? I feel for you boys, I really do, but Miramax - you know, Miramax Films - paid me a shitload of money for Bluntman and Chronic. So it occurs to me that people badmouthing you on some website, is NONE OF MY FUCKING CONCERN.
-------------------------
typing a message on an internet chat room]
Jay: All you motherfuckers are gonna pay. You are the ones who are the ball-lickers. We're gonna fuck your mothers while you watch and cry like little bitches. Once we get to Hollywood and find those Miramax fucks who are making that movie, we're gonna make 'em eat our shit, then shit out our shit, then eat their shit which is made up of our shit that we made 'em eat. Then you're all you motherfucks are next. Love, Jay and Silent Bob.
---------------------
Hooker #1: Hey, little man! You want some of this?
Hooker #2: How 'bout you, big boy?
Hooker #1: You got 50 bucks, we can get NASTY.
Jay: Oh, yeah? How nasty?
Hooker #2: As nasty as you want to be, papi.
Jay: Oh, all right. Well, first, I want you to tongue my bung, while you juggle my balls in one hand, and play with my asshole with the other, but don't stick you're finger in. Then I want to pinky you while I stick in your fuckin' friend's brown, while Silent Bob watches, and fuckin' spanks it in a Dixie cup. After that, I want to smell your titties for a while, and you can pull my nutsack up over my dick so it looks like a bullfrog. Then I want you to fuckin' flick my nuts while your friend spanks me off in the same Dixie cup that Silent Bob jizzed in. Then, we throw the Dixie cup out.
[brief silence]
Hooker #1: Oh, that's it, honey! I quit! This job just passed the point of no return!
[both hookers leave]
Jay: What? You said "nasty"!
[to Silent Bob]
Jay: Man, chicks in Hollywood are so stuck-up.
-----------------
Jay: You know, maybe one night me and Lunch Box are out we're mackin' some chick and shit, and she's, like, "Ooh, I want to suck youse guys' dicks off," and she's, like, "What your names?" And I'm, like, "Jay and Silent Bob." Reco'nize. And she's like, "Oh, I've read on the Internet that fuckin' youse guys are a couple of little fuckin' jerkoffs." And then she goes and sucks two other guys' dicks off instead. Well, FUCK that.

i find it funny that north continues to say how he was mis-quoted and annie and fred agree, but he won't say WHAT was mis-quoted or play the tape of what he said. WHY ? easy, he knows it will open a can of worms. how can anne, who argues with him on every other point, not see that what he said was clearly racist. and score management does nothing.

I read some post awhile back positing that the theory the hosts dislike the boards is because they can't have the last word. I totally agree. There are hardly any shows on the Score where you can actually have a discussion with a host- B&B hang up and call you a meatheat, Murph interrupts you before you can make a point, North doesn't take hardly any calls and when he does its usually a poll where he takes your response and hangs up. The board is really, as Murph likes to put it, "fans talking to fans". Lots of people here have interesting things to say and don't have time to wait 45 minutes on hold to be hung up on or cut off. So of course they don't like it. People other than them have opinions and deserve to be heard. How hard is that to understand?

Dat's exactly rite ! That is why B + B and Caucasian Man hate this place, and Mac embraces it.

[/quote] Post of the week so far . I could not agree with you more Baku.

Sports radio has become 35 minutes of sponsors, 10 minutes of updates and about 15 minutes of hosts telling us how smart they are. Sprinkle 1 or 2 calls in and you have 4 hours of hand jobbing the paying customer. 1.9 or 1.7 ratings is all sports radio will ever be.

No, they meant Nas. It was his email and I think they said he copied it to Agase.

Tummy Sticks I think.

Maybe North is right. I feel ridiculous both knowing that and typing it out.

For those of you who haven't gotten the word from our friend Nas, I'll share his thoughts here. He will not post until his day comes...

Quote:
NAS - I'm surprised that he called me a rat. I sent him an email telling him that he was the reason I started listening to sports radio and that I think it was a bad idea to go after the guys(listeners)who helped him get where he is. I didn't say anything nasty but I guess signing my email with Nas was a terrible thing. I did CC Paul too. Maybe that did it.

None of us care, Dr.

...this board is a response to being considered a "meathead" caller.
we have the "power" here. they don't, so they don't like it.

As Chus suggested, the Score radio hosts who attack this board are attacking because they can't control the message. It's really no different than what they do when a newspaper columnist criticizes them. They circle the wagons and shoot the messenger. Recognize this simple fact about most of the hosts in this town...they can dish out criticism all day long but cannot take one ounce of it directed at them.

In addition, I think there is something else at work here. The Score used to be the voice of the fan. It is now the station that most ridicules fans. Express an opinion that a host doesn't agree with, or make a statement even slightly inaccurate or inarticulate, and you will be ridiculed (and even threatened with a lawsuit).

It's all part of a carefully crafted branding of the hosts of these stations. They are cultivating brands on these stations that attempt to build impressions in listeners' minds that the hosts are the smartest people in town. They are the ones we must all tune in to hear their every word from the mount. Nobody else's opinion...especially those of the great unwashed listeners...even count. Only the hosts (and the occasional guests they select) have valid opinions worth more than a few seconds of air time.

Fans simply are not important to the shows any more. Consultants have apparently convinced radio management and hosts that host-dominated radio is the holy grail of formats and hosts must control every second of the program, rather than leaving anything to the vagaries of their listeners' opinions. So not only are fans' opinions not respected, or in fact ridiculed in order to strengthen the intellectual superiority and brand identity of the hosts, but the allotted time for fans to express those opinions is much less than it used to be.

So what has happened as a result of these changes? Because sports talk radio is evolving into a host-dominated format with little use or respect for fans' opinions, this board...and others in this town and other towns....are filling the gap. These boards have become the voice of the fan more so than talk radio.

Mac and drinky appear to be the only two radio hosts in Chicago who understand this. They apparently have figured it out that the internet offers them a much better chance to interact with fans than they are allowed, or want, to do on their own shows. Mac and drinky are changing with the times and embracing the "new media". They are clearly decent people who respect others and respect their listeners...unlike many of their associates in the business. And I think they also understand that interacting with fans in this way brings new and consistent listeners to their shows. Call it a little cross-platform marketing, if you will.

The other guys running the stations and hosting the shows who don't "get it" meanwhile, are circling the wagons and attacking people on message boards as being bad people or even part of "mobs". This behavior says much more about them than it does us.
