Yeah I would say that an entire season is a pretty long slump.

And .200 so far this year.

Bad.

Besides the half-year he was called up he has been a huge disappointment, one could call this year and the last year a long slump or at the very least a long sub-par baseball existence. I like the the guy, love his hair and think he is pretty cool but so far he has been a huge letdown. This was a guy that was having his picture taken with Jeter and all that, received a lot of hype and hasn't lived up to it.

Maybe 'bust' was too harsh a word but he is quickly approaching it. If he bats below .250 this year than he will be a bust or close to it.

No, he won't. Again, he is good defensively, he will not be completely useless. Again, a bust is someone like Jerry Owns or Brian Anderson, who was supposed to help the club but ends up completely unable to play baseball at the major league level. Now if he starts batting below or close to the mendoza line then there is problems. I would imagine if he starts hitting around .230 consistently for two more years then he would eventually be moved, most likely to an national league team where its easier to hit.

But he most likely will not hit below .250 anyways.

After the White Sox had the bases loaded in the 6th with no outs, get 1 run, and in the top of the 8th have allowed another run to the Orioles to make it 3-1 Orioles, and now have runners on 2nd and 3rd and no outs with D-Lee up.

This bullpen maybe the worst I've seen.

Went from 2-1 to 6-1 in the 8th. :x

Sox will not win one game of this series. The Sox are now the team to get healthy off of. Bye, bye Ozzie. Bye, bye.

Well Dunn sure didn't help much. Not only did he not come up with the scoop of AJ's throw he boxed it 10 ft away and let a run score then Markakis' 'hit' was a half a step to his right and he missed it by 5 feet. That oaf should not be at first base.

Dunn wants to play the field more. Thinks it'll help his hitting.

Find another way to hit. Lose the glove.

It's hard for a manager when you've got three starters with slugging percentages under .300:

Beckham (.296)
Dunn (.267)
Rios (.235) (!)

oops, I forgot a 4th: Pierre (.270)

On the Beckham struggles, if anybody caught the bottom of the 3rd, Teahan up first gets a single, I thought maybe Beckham should have tried to bunt him over to 2nd, they didn't try it, Beckham hits a pop fly to first base, Pierre just misses one to warning track, then Alexi gets a hit, that would have scored Teahen if he was on 2nd already, but he wasn't, so the Sox got no runs after a Quentin out.

I think with your scoring woes, and Beckham struggling at the plate, have him do the bunt to help the team in some way, don't if that's in their thought plan, but it gives you a better chance to score a run.

The problem with that is that they can't bunt. This team lacks the basic fundamentals.

No. If Beckham can't hit, send him to Charlotte and find someone who can. I can't believe anyone actually thinks the problem with this team is that it doesn't bunt enough. They've lost about 30 men on the bases and foolishly made far too many outs on purpose. Still, that isn't why this team sucks. They aren't hitting. This should be a 950 run team. I'm not sure how they can be this fucking bad. They're atrocious. And at some point people are going to have to accept that maybe Cleveland and KC are actually good and maybe the Sox and Twins are just horseshit.

Wow, who would have believed that on May 1st the Sox would already be 9 games back in their division to the Indians?!?!

What I can't believe that this is a record year for most losses in the month of may by the organization.

It's his 3rd season. You don't give up on a player after 3 seasons.

Especially one that was a high draft pick and comes with the hitting pedigree Bacon had.

You leave him in the 2 spot and let him be.

He'll be fine. Eventually.

And if I'm wrong, I'll just come back and edit my stance. :P

I won't give him up in the middle of his 3rd year. That is insane.

When he's hitting .275 with 14HR I'll think of you....

Ok, I understand your position, but I must say that I completely disagree. This season is shaping up to be a disaster and Beckham is a big part of that in my opinion.
Last question... since no one answered it. If he improves dramatically thru the remainder of the season, hits say .250/.320/.400 (which would require the best 4 months of his career now) do you want him back in 2012 or do you see if you can't find a 2b who can hit for average and get on base so those big boys can knock him home? isn't that why the Sox wanted Dunn?

You don't launch cost-effective young players with potential and under team control, especially when the immediate alternatives on the roster are a 44 year-old guy and a midget utility man.

Despite a .194 BA starting the day, Ozzie's not about to take Gordon Beckham out of the lineup as the White Sox face Orioles' lefty Zach Britton in the third of four. If you think there's help on the way from Charlotte, think again. I posted the averages of the guys who could replace Beckham & 3B Brent Morel and you might not want to recall ANY of the names I posted here:

viewtopic.php?f=33&t=58240

As for today's lineup, right-handed hitters dominate Ozzie's lineup, which goes like this:

1 Juan Pierre LF
10 Alexei Ramirez SS
20 Carlos Quentin DH
14 Paul Konerko 1B
51 Alex Rios CF
27 Ramon Castro C
18 Brent Lillibridge RF
15 Gordon Beckham 2B
22 Brent Morel 3B

Gavin Floyd tries to stop another losing streak, currently at 4, as the White Sox try to get off the deck vs. the O's at 1:10p.

Its May 1st in Beckhams first season. Hopefully he breaks out this month and starts hitting. We have no idea if he will or not. To talk about him as done or stating that its "obvious he will not be resigned" right now is jumping the gun.

Bacon's twitter:

Yesterday's biggest offender was AJ that is for sure. Evidently a team meeting was held and Ozzie said simply that AJ has to play better defense, no excuses.

The only other thing I can hope for is that now that April's in the rearview mirror and the weather will be warming up, so will Beckham's bat. I know there are other White Sox such as the man who is his double play partner at SS, Alexei Ramirez, that also doesn't hit in the 4th month of the calendar year.

I would. If he is bordering on a 1000 ABs at the MLB level and is getting worse, not better, i think it's time to look elsewhere. I'm a Cubs fan though.

Stupid not to play Dunn today, feels like he is very close to going on a big run. Obvious he is starting to adjust.

Then you've got plenty of looking elsewhere to do yourself.

He isn't "getting worse", the major thing is that he needs to break out of this slump soon, not July. Go enjoy Darwin Barney.

As I've said before, I won't even sit and watch an entire 3 game series of Cubs baseball until next year. The White Sox are more interesting to me this season. Far more city-wide expectation.
