While I certainly do not like North's show (it is really, really bad), I also do not like to see people lose their jobs. What can North do to:

1) Improve this show

2) Save his job

I dont like to see anyone lose their job also, but Mike has simply refused to improve his show. Obviously Anne is not working, Fred is to scared to say anything that resembles a different opinion in regard to what Mike thinks and he has someone producing his show that more expierence as a waitress.

Bookie pries is over played, his inability to bring race into every subject, his need for control and his total lack of understanding how the business world works is what is killing him. He is getting what he deserves, someone in managment standing up to him and saying "enough is enough".

Mike will land somewhere else when this deal is up, but he has made his money, his next gig is going to be pocket money for retirement.

Actually, I was thinking the same thing this morning. I had a 15 minute commute this morning and decided to tune into SCR to listen to North. I know it's been said on this board this morning that he seemed like a guy that was lashing out but I personally was OK with it.

Back in the day, I remember North being bombastic and loud.. opinionated and a little rough around the edges. It seemed to me that he's gotten into a very comfortable routine for a while and that format seemed stale. The more lively and excitable North that I heard this morning was fun again. He was poking fun at the whole underperforming thing and some of it made me chuckle.

I would love to hear North with a strong partner again. Someone who will stand up to him and will argue sports with him. The best parts of the MJH show, IMHO, are centered around the three knuckle heads arguing something. B&B are the same way. Sports talk is about debate and about contention. A room full of yes men makes for dry radio.

Personally, I'd like to hear more of the North show I heard on my commute this morning.. it's at least a step in teh right direction.

his ego won't let him change the show. unfortunately, i think the score will end up signing him to a deal where north will make about 400K/yr. the station keeps all his sponsors and north will declare victory even though he will take a huge paycut. he will rationalize it by saying that everyone was wrong in thinking he would be gone. or as others have stated, he will try to bring back jiggetts (who also blows) and revive the whole monsters bit. unless we get a festivus miricle, north will not be leaving the airwaves in the near future.

Someone mentioned this before in another thread, but IF the Score went out and signed Mancow, not only would they go to a all new level ratings wise, Mancow would bring in double the money that North has imo.

That makes sense but I don't even think North's ego would let him take a paycut from the Score. Maybe someone else, but not from the station that he believes he placed on the map.

Having an equal partner on the air would do worlds of good for North. If he tried to tone down his personality, it would not be North. But, if someone were there to call him on all the stupid statements he throws out ("everyone's been arrested") it would make it much more interesting. Say, a Jiggetts responds, "Now, hold on, Mike. Everyone's been arrested? What are you sayin'?" Then North can define his opinions in a civilized manner. As it is now, it's like listening to a cabdriver talk about how the world is going to hell in a handbasket and if only everyone would get behind him, he could stop it. Anne and Fred add nothing to any conversations except to agree with him and now the last couple days agree with how management is out to get him.
I also expect him to re-sign at a lower rate and they will stick him in mid-days or evenings where the ratings are not that crucial. As for the new morning show? I am open to almost anything at this point.

Let me start off by saying I now understand what you guys were saying about my Erin Andrews avatar. I started reading FredsMN's thoughts and thought they were good and then I generally lost interest and started checking out the pic and just moved on. Sorry Fred.

I would be fine with North sticking around and getting an equal partner. Now that the Barack comment has been clarified, I don't have a problem with it. It's cutting a fine line and I think if you make a comment like that you shouldn't be too indignant that someone might not hear it or interpret it quite the way you meant it. But, let's move on.

For the same reason I don't love Mike's current show, I don't want to see Dahl step in to what would be basically the same show even though it might be a slight upgrade in the entertainment department. Stick to sports fellas. That's why it's called "sports radio".

His ego is out of control; and for Mancow, anyone remember when the rumors were that Kevin Mathews was in discussions about doing mornings at the Score? ( it wasn't a rumor; Kevin had meetings at the Score from what I was told).

North came on the air and said -and I am paraphrasing here - that Kevin would never be on at the score - over his dead body. It was a weird moment that signalled the beginning of meglomania north style.

North has said that Marriotti and Matthews would never work at the score. I didnt know he was in charge of hiring staff? North is in a death spiral and it is making for fun radio at the least.
