Buehrle said he wouldn't block a trade. Paulie is at the beginning of a three year deal so he is not going anywhere. AJ is at the beginning of a 2 year deal.

The main guys in the last year of contracts are Buehrle, Jackson, Pierre and Vizquel. Each one of these guys could be replaced without huge disruption if Sale, Peavy and Viceado. At the same time that cuts 28 million from the payroll.

Vizquel will be a waiver-deadline move to whoever's in first place so he can get one last October in (even though he'll probably struggle to make a playoff roster).

I think a guy who can field all 3 infield positions (still fairly well) would be a plus on any NL postseason roster.

I think this talk is premature. I don't think anyone believes that the Indians will continue to play this well and the Sox this poorly. They could be 5 games out by the All-Star break.

You can't go back and forth with your strategies. If your going to kill your farm system to field a win-now team, give 'em till July at least to see where they stand. There will be a lot of movement in the Central standing between now and then.

The White Sox have a lot of bad money. You can't get a 24 pack of Pepsi Max for Jake Peavy. You can't get a 30 pack of Miller High Life for Alex Rios & Adam Dunn. No team in Bud Selig's MLB will want these three for the kind of $$$$ they are earning.

I'm not sure you can get a bucket of balls right now for Mark Teahen either, but it appears as if Teahen has won back the third base job as the team's latest road trip starts tomorrow night in Seattle. For those that have ripped 2B Gordon Beckham for his slump, consider what Brent Morel's not doing at the plate. I can build a case that Morel looks even more lost than Beckham offensively. While Beckham's BA is no great shakes at .208, he appears to have shown signs of life with the bat before the no-hitter Tuesday vs. the Twins' Francisco Liriano. I can't say the same about Morel, whose BA is currently .187 and is 4 for his last 41. Teahen is hitting .250 and has played better defense in limited at-bats this season. I think Morel's the one that goes back to Triple "A" if Teahen takes away his playing time, and to possibly accommodate the return of Dayan Viciedo to the ML roster.

While Viciedo has been in right field for the Sox top farm affiliate this season, he could end up in right field here should they part company with Carlos Quentin. I think you can get a lot for C.Q., Mark Buehrle, Paul Konerko, Gavin Floyd, Juan Pierre and Omar Vizquel if this team continues to fade like an old pair of Levi's. The Sox need to rid themselves of a lot of salary and have to rebuild a farm system that quite frankly isn't much better than their Major League counterparts.

Luckily, White Hen Pantry isn't in the American League.

$13MM a year isn't unreasonable. You're telling me you can't throw a couple million in and ship him off to a National League team with a short outfield? Houston's coveted the guy for years; they're in such a mess that getting some big Texan to whack some dingers might be the only thing that gets people to go to an Astros game for the next year or two.

Besides, they're not trading a guy 33 games into a four-year deal, so this is a moot point and I'm dumber for having engaged in this.

As I recall, This WIN NOW team was actually in 1st place in the A.L. Central...always the barometer of MLB greatness...last season.
Two suggestions....
1.) Watch how the White Sox actually are playing the game.
2.) Take a look at the second half records the White Sox have put up in the Williams-Guillen Era.

It's rare a team signs a guy in the offseason and then trades him away during the following season. Especially someone with Dunn's talent.

However, that player in his avatar has lots of natural talent. The Indians pitching staff is not going to collectively overperform at this level for the entire year. They are already starting to cool down.

If the Sox start winning now, then they should win this division. They appear to have gotten it back together. The Sox starting pitching is the best in the division and can be really special this year. Hell, even Humber, our number six guy, has been great.

As for Dunn, it has been repeated over and over and over again that he will strike out frequently. He has avery good track record, and appears to be on the cusp of really heating up. Sox fans are going to love this guy by the end of the year.

Only Jake Peavy can be considered "bad money", Rios and Dunn may be overpaid, but both will help the team win. They have good track records, especially Dunn. No way the Sox would even want to move them. Dunn is one of the games premier hitters, Rios is one of the best CF's defensively in the game, and he can hit as well.

Fine. Premier power hitters. He is at or right near the top in number of HRs the last 3-4 seasons.

I think his .897 career OPS (17th highest among active players) is a better indicator of the type of hitter he is rather than just looking at his career batting average.

He walks very frequently as well, you didn't include that. Its not like he either hits or strikes out. The guy has a very good obp. He hits tons of home runs, drives in runs and is in a hitter friendly park. He is regarded by many as one of the leagues premier hitters. Its not like I am making this up and the only one saying it.

Granted his adjustment has been rough, the surgery didn't help.

Statistics can be molded to fit any argument. But no stats are needed to see that the suggestion that Dunn should be traded is moronic.
