anyone get the real quick mention of Mike meeting with Harvey?

It's all coming together now.

Mike knew he stole the $7.5 million and he knew they would catch on to him. Sure, he thought he could make it, but the $7.5 million sets the bar high, and too high in this case.

Harvey now runs a slew of small time radio station with something like a 3 block radius, North, Harvey and Mancow pool some money get some investors crank up the wattage and get a Chicago radio station, or North goes on one of Harveys CB radio stations.

After this deal ends, North is not in it for the money, he is in it for the ego.

What Would Mike North do now without the radio and attention? he has no kids, no real hobbies to speak of, no real other talents. I don't think he could take the normalcy.

I've heard that Mike North was instrumental in keeping WSCR afloat early in their radio lives. ...and I'm not just talking about his 'on air' work - he was very active in lining up advertisers.

Unfortunately for him, none of those management types are around any more - and the new group probably could care less what he did a decade to 15 years ago. CBS would squeeze a buffalo nickel until it crapped in their hands.

If it is an ego thing, how would it look if Mike were to go to another station for say, $350,000 per year?
No way!
He'd be humiliated beyond belief to have that pay cut announced in Feder's column.

It worked wonders for Garry Meier, hasn't it? Where is Kevin Matthews now - Riding shotgun with Bill Simonson? Whatever became of Pete McMurray? I believe their year of being off is up. Where are they?

Bill Simonson AKA "Huge" is currently working right across the lake w/o Kevin Matthews. He's back in his comfort zone of 250,000-500,000 size cities audiences. Roe is one of the top 5 talk show hosts in the entire country(IMHO) and Garry, altough quite good in his own right, was just in the right place at the right time.

I think the Wells connection might well be where he ends up. However, Not even North could come up with the scratch (even if he had investors) to buy a "real" station. Prices have gone down somewhat, but WNIB (which is now the drive) was sold for $150-$160 million several years ago. As for expanding wattage, Chicago is completely saturated now, especially with clear-channel AM stations.

As for the general salary issue, we all agree (I think) that Mike will see $1.5M per. but provided he's still having fun, he could probably drag himself into $250K or $350K per year.
