 This is one of the things I love about this place. Threads around evolve in such a quick amount of time. A discussion about Darko, to the madness of QBuffone, to a discussion of the greatest rappers of all time.

Congratulations on the majority of posters in this thread that keep validating the psycho's continued posting with responses of any kind on any level; 'to ignore' is apparently a verb well beyond the intellectual aptitude of most people on this board.

Who? I thought this was about Darkside? One of my favorite spats Darkside got into was with Jimmypasta. They were at each other pretty good and Darkside had him on the ropes until Jimmypasta called him Dickslide.

He was a pretty good sport about that one though. He had won the argument.

JORR -

Wild Flag is coming to Chicago in July. One night at SubT and one at the "Wicker Park Fest". This is probably a "must see" for you and me, and all the women of Bridgeport.

Go, Carrie, go! I'm sure the Subterranean show is gonna be a tough ticket, but I'll probably be at Wicker Park Fest. If you're there I'll buy you a cheap American beer.

Where would you rank Carrie Brownstein among your top-5 lesbian front-women?

Would you call Carrie the "frontwoman"? I always considered Corin the frontwoman, although I guess they were kind of equals. But I'd have to say Carrie is my favorite lesbian- period.

S-K is for sure my favorite all-girl band. The drums are really the thing. Chicks can do everything else, but it's tough to find a girl who can hit the skins like a man with a set of American balls swinging between his legs.

This was a great girl band from Chicago in the early 80s: http://barbiearmy.8m.com/. My friend Jean was the leader and she still plays around occasionally with a band called the Headspins. She's a suburban mom now but she still rocks as hard as ever.

I'm only on page 5 of this thread... Judging by the topics being discussed on page 19, when should I stop torturing my eyes?

I was, but talk about a limited catalog. He was real good off the top. One of the best at non written freestyles. Him and Eyedea are hard to denounce in that category.

That's fair. I'm just saying, without Diddy and Bad Boy, Biggie would've been Chubb Rock at best.

There was a chance Big's style could have become repetitive, but the lack of longevity only adds to his mystique. I do have concerns about the lyrical content C.Wallace would have progressed too. I don't think you can so easily dismiss the cyclical effect Big and Diddy had on each other. There is no chance Diddy would be remotely as famous as he thinks he is now without Biggie's talents. Namely exploiting Biggie's death to a disturbing degree. I'll always hold contempt for Sean Combs because of the way he parlayed Big's death into a superficial type of fame. Talib Kweli was ghost writing some of Puff's verses only a couple years ago. That should be all we need to know.

Busta Rhymes,Outkast,Snoop Dogg and Biggie were all the 4 artists that I probably listened to the most back in the day.

Outkast really never put out an unlistenable album. Regardless of the number of members, they have to be considered a top 5 group. The contrast in lyrical styles, content, and sometimes mid song alterations of instrumentals is so epically pulled off on all their albums I still consider them a fall back listen when I can't find anything else I like. Namely, Aquemeni and ATLiens.

Snoop had a few good tracks, but he kind of fell back on his icon status around 2005 and hasn't made any good music since. Except for that song with the Neptunes. No Limit Snoop? That's some crazy shit right there. Snoop also gets cool points for being the first and only rapper to accuse Suge Knight of having a hand in Tupac's death.

BIG? No question one of the best.

I can't take Busta Rhymes seriously after hearing some creepy gay stories about him. Then I look back on his spandex look in that old Janet Jackson video, and that disturbingly descriptive song he made about sucking down chicken legs or something on a Nas album and I think there's something to the rumors.

Diddy's an idiot. He deserves no respect past putting Biggie on. Maybe the Shyne thing, before that blew up in his face. Could care less about his bank account.

He wasn't even that great in 'Get Him to the Greek'.

That's probably the best way to break down any argument about fav rappers.

I like Guru a lot, but I can't elevate him up there myself. His catalog is great but Jazzmatazz 2, and a couple Gangstarr albums were all I could really get into.

Never heard much Freddy the Fox. He's the dude who helped to protege Nas' rhyme style? Also hosted Yo MTV raps?

Pac and Nas need no promotion.

Puffy had a great run in the 90's even without Biggie. IIRC he put. Jodeci and Mary J on too. Then you had Mase and a long list of others.

I'm sick of having to set people straight on this shit.

Ivan, you're 100% correct. Spark, you're wrong. Big was way overrated. I could easily rattle off 10 rappers from the 90s who would easilly demolish Biggie Smalls in every aspect of the game.

Biggie Smalls benefitted from two things:

1. Dying Young
2. Being on Bad Boy Records and having the greatest hype man of all time behind him

End of discussion.

Youre crazy. And no, big pun wouldnt rap circles around him. and there arent 10 better rappers period, much less in the 90s

Just because YOU didnt connect with it doesnt mean its not good.

I don't think you're crazy for having those thoughts OKC, but maybe you should take a second look at what Big was doing with his wordplay, syllable placement, flow variations. Just the way he could punctuate punchlines and the end of a random verse with his cadence was/is uncanny. Not to mention the creativity he'd be able to resonate after puffing 4 blunts before noon most days.

I give any songwriter extra credit for making relevant music without writing down any of it.

C'mon Hov. Jodeci had what? One song? Maybe a 2 year run? Mary J? I'll give you that, but even she benefited from the Bad Boy brand BIG had strengthened.

Mase?...... C'mon. Mase? One album? 2 or 3 songs? Then decided to become a preacher? I'm good. Plus he would have never been as relevant without BIG already established.

Everyone you guys are referencing became ultra famous after the Bad Boy brand was enhanced to elite status by 'Ready to Die'. I don't think that can be argued, but I'm sure someone will.
