Interestingly enough, Neil Steinberg's column today was quite similar to this discussion. While I don't think Neil is any more of a racist than the average white person, I also don't believe he is frightened to use the word "genius". His editors would surely blanch with horror and not allow the word in the paper, so his column discussed other words like "dogfight" and "crazy".

Tell you the truth, I thought he was black. Since everyone hides behind their fake names and having met only a few of you; I only know that two of the guys are black for sure. It's all good. For people who seem to have all the radio answers, some of you have no idea how this works. I guess you could ask Spada though. If me saying you're better than using that word and that phrase illicits this response, it helps me understand; that's all. Unlike many hosts or producers I think the stuff done and said here is interesting, and some is just reckless; much like a radio show.
