Yep... Conquest... I'm crossing CoD with BC. When you compare a BC Conquest match against a CoD Domination game, you can't even really compare the two. BC is much closer to BF than CoD in my opinion. And that is my only problem with what you said (BC is just CoD with vehicles). I love BC and BF for the same reasons you stated. And I will love BF3.

p.s. can we have a few more acronyms, please?

I went to Gamestop to pick up Test Drive unlimited 2 and they hadn't received the shipment yet, that's the first time Gamestop has ever let me down... But I've waited 2 years and 7 months for this game, so whats a few hours more...

That's certainly how you tease a game. Put this firmly on my radar now

My first impression is that it is almost exactly like ME2, but with more button-mashing. I never played the original game, but I can see this being about as enjoyable as ME2 for a while, then tailing off.

5 hour long single player?

I really can't keep supporting these developer's releasing short as hell campaigns.

Well at this point I can't even remember the last FPS campaign I played that was longer than 7 hours. I'm thinking that length has already become the norm. At this point I'm looking for a good story with great/extensive multiplayer, and graphics to push my pc to its limits, this might do it for me.

Pretty sure The Last Guardian can come off this list now...sorry IMU...

http://kotaku.com/#!5793828

I announced at last year's Tokyo Game Show that the release timing of The Last Guardian which is currently being developed would be holiday 2011.

However, to provide more challenging and better quality of content to users and to fulfill First Party Studio's obligations, I decided to postpone its release timing.

All the members of my production team are working together at a fast pace to develop and release the game in First Party Studio quality.

I sincerely apologize to all the customers who have been waiting for "The Last Guardian" for so long, but I beg for your patience. I will also announce the new release timing at a later time.

Spiderman: Edge of Time...sequel to Shattered Dimensions.

Looks like it could be enjoyable, though 2099 was my least favorite of the 4 styles found in Shattered Dimensions.

I read the preview article on this in Game Informer. Looks pretty sweet, and there is bouncing back and forth between 2099 and the Amazing Spiderman of "current day"

It's Istanbul, not Constantinople. So if you've got a date in Constantinople... she'll be waiting in Instanbul.

Remember:
Even old New York was once New Amsterdam. Why they changed it? I can't say. People just liked it better that way.

With Infamous 2 and Dungeon Siege 3 bookending the month I can say confidentaly that June is going to be the best month for games release of all of 2011!

Can't fucking wait for those two games...assuming Siege is any good. I'm pretty positive Infamous will be awesome.

Those two games plus Pro Evo Soccer will keep me busy for the entirety of 2011 most likely.

In any other year, it might have had a chance at GOTY. Maybe it does even this year...but only because it is riding the Rockstar name.

Seems like what we all knew was going to be good is good...Very solid acting and voice work...good graphics...decent presentation.

It seems the story is cemented though...and there isn't much (or any) change between play-throughs.

Glad you told me it's a Rockstar game. Now I won't bother even looking at it. Not that I think their games suck. It just seems that every game they make has the same feel to me so basically I feel like I've already played it and I don't feel like wasting my time on it. It's different if it were a game series (GTA). I expect it to be familiar. But I'm guessing I can get this game and it'll feel like I'm playing GTA all over again. Meh, not horrible, but not worth the $$ for me.
On a separate note, I'll definitely be picking up the next AC game. I still haven't finished AC Brotherhood. But you get your money's worth with this series (...I'm about 25-30 hours into the solo campaign and there's still plenty to do).

No big deal. I honestly haven't even finished GTA IV yet... or Red Dead. Played em both plenty though. I'll hold off on making it a trifecta of the same game until I finish the ones I have. I can probably get it for like $5 by then.

Some dude in the user reviews. I always have to read user reviews to get some of the true negatives and positives. The gamesite reviews tend to just be an exercise to see how much they can say without really telling you anything specific about the game itself. Sometimes it seems like an editor just told someone to write a positive article about a game so the author just gets out the thesaurus and knee pads and goes to work regardless of the amount of hands on knowledge of the game. I’ll still browse through their reviews quickly for the occasional tidbit if I’m interested in a game, but you need to read the true love it or hate it reviews from the customers who nitpick everything to get the full picture.

These are quotes from a few of the reviews... these could all be the same guy (wouldn't be surprised if it was). They pretty much all say the same thing:
"The cases themselves simply aren't very tough"
"but it's just that... the game is so easy."
"The cut scenes were obsessive. I simply hate cut scenes in games. They remove gameplay and any interaction you have with the scene at all."
"This isn't a game, it's a C-movie. There's barely any gameplay, and what's there is too easy and boring."
"it has really boring gameplay"
"literally no replay value, a pretensions storyline, and a easily predicted conclusion."
"It is redundant game style as it feels and plays 100% like GTA."
"The atmosphere is extremely boring as you would expect it to be from GTA: Dick Tracy."
"lame "been there done that" story mode"
"Driving and gameplay is horrible. No replay value."
"Replay value is slim to none" (from a good review)

My problem with the "good" reviews are that they're just not informative. They might as well just say "I like this game. If you don't, you suck". Like I said I read all the reviews from gamesites and users (even if they don't have the game) and try to figure out if the game fits my style. Sometimes people hate the game for the reason I like it... but like I said, negative reviewers that pick apart the game are as good as any place to get a feel for a game. This is how I shop for most things anyway. I like the analysis...and reading bitchy comments in the reviews. Maybe other people's misery makes me happy.

These guys were trying to blur the line between movie and video game. I'm not sure what people expected. I imagined half of the game would be cutscenes... cutscenes that gave you clues. I also imagined that it would be easy. In order to mass market games these days, you can't make stuff as hard as they used to back in the day. I was never a GTA fan, so this game didn't make my buy list. But I am intrigued about how they execute this versus a game like Heavy Rain (which I also never played).

edit: He "says" he played 8 total hours. That was posted early this morning. He would have needed to get the game immediately at midnight, get home right away, and play through the entire night without taking a break to get to 8 hours. With that being said, he played 5 hours on XBox and 3 hours on PS3...meaning he has only, at most, if he isn't exaggerating, played the first 5 hours of the game...the first 20% of it maybe?

Either way, if one "user" tells me it plays like GTA, and many different people who are paid to talk about games tell me it doesn't...I know who to believe.

Hey, no fair. No editing this far after the fact. And it doesn't really matter anyway. I don't read reviews to have my opinion given to me. I read it for the information. Whether the reviewer (paid or unpaid) likes it or not... I don't care. I want to know about the game. How they got the information, whether you think it's informed or not...that's up to you. Also, several "users" used the GTA comparison. And it's not surprise since it's a rockstar game. If you like that sort of thing, then that's a good thing, right? If you only count on paid reviewers, then great. I don't. I might read every review out there and feel like I have no opinion because the reviews are just filled with vague hyperbole about the revolutionary whatever bullshit this game is packed with. I think I have a good idea what to expect from this game. Might be a little slow paced for me. I think AC crawls too and I expect this game would feel like I'm standing still. I think one of the paid reviewers mentioned something about the shooting aspect of the game is more clunky (or something like that) than GTA...and I thought shooting in GTA sucked. But it's not really a shooter to me, so who cares.
One thing I think is good about this game is that it doesn't seem like they're trying to make a "catch-all" game like a lot of others out there. There's a lot of RPG, FPS, movie, music video, sports, multi player, facebook combo games that pretty much end up playing like a huge pile of crap because there's no direction... the game gets lost in the quest for the all encompassing game. Sometimes a game like LA can seem boring because it's linear or a one trick pony or whatever, but if the one thing it does entertains you then who cares if it doesn't get a perfect score on a review.
So don't unpack when you move. Just plug this shit in and put in a good 12 hours on this game.
...btw, I'm not paying for your review.
