But the sad part is, you think about how these abused kids will go through life. Will it haunt them? Always be with them? Here's a case where a guy likely lost a job over it.

Wow, just wow if that story is true. Dont know if my opinion of Hawk could get any lower but thats just fucking brutal. Shame on Reinsdorf for allowing Harrelson to have that kind of juice too. Though I have to say if his reasoning is he didnt want to be around anyone who might be G a y, how the hell did Stone get the job?

 Thats a hilarious and good point.

This is all speculation, though its pretty clear that Hawk had a lot to do with Wimpy leaving.

Any longtime guys help me out here? JORR, Aggravated Bob?

When Wimpy was doing part time broadcasting work for the Tigers several years back, he was interviewed on The Score. The host (I forget who it was) asked him to elaborate about his break up from the Sox and asked him point blank if it was regarding any friction with Hawk. Wimpy replied that Hawk had nothing to do with it and it was "someone within the organization's marketing department" (I assume Rob Gallas) who wanted him to change his broadcasting style drastically for the upcoming 2000 season. Paciorek was pretty miffed about the whole thing and pretty much told them that he broadcasted the same way for years and he wasn't about to change his style now. He told them that if they weren't happy with his style then they should make a change which is what they ended up doing and adding DJ to replace Wimpy for the 2000 season. This is what Paciorek said in an interview I heard. Take it however you want it.

As someone who was very close to the situation when it happened, I can confirm that Hawk did, indeed have Paciorek fired. While it is true that TP "resigned", he was forced to do so by Rob Gallas. Reinsdorf insultingly offered to keep Tom on if he were to make radical changes in his approach, upon which Tom kindly told him to go scratch, in a friendly way.
...
I never saw the previously referenced Tribune article that supposedly said Paciorek made disparaging remarks about Michael Jordan, but there was in fact an incident in the booth late in Tom's final season with the team. During the inning, Hawk was rambling on about what a great golfer Jordan was..and during a commercial break Tom called Hawk on being an ass-kisser, as well as full of ****. MJ, apparently, is not a great golfer. The short argument was really a result of season-long animosity, and not really the result of anyone's views on MJ's golf game..that was just the trigger.
Hawk felt he was working too hard, and Tommy wasn't talking enough during the games. He wanted someone else. Ironically, the Sox hired a guy who had even less to contribute in Darrin Jackson, who spent most of his first season just trying not to step on the Hawk's toes.

I don't think it's true. I've been watching Sox broadcasts since the late 80's.

Hawk may have influenced Paciorek leaving (as he has strongarmed many partners he disliked for whatever reason) but I don't think it is for the reasons mentioned.

So basically Hawk is the huge cocksucker most of us thought he was and the organization would far better of without him....yet Jerry loves him and thus Hawk will not leave until he is physically determined to be dead.

It wouldn't be a Sox game if a runner wasn't erased on the bases. Even Rongey has begun quietly beating the drum for the replacement of Pierre.

Every time the Sox get something going Juan Pierre steps to the plate.

The Sox were poised to knock arguably the best starter in baseball out of the game in the seventh inning and Ozzie gave him life with bunts. Please fire this dummy NOW.

And it's a 4-3 ballgame.  Guillen should arrive at the park in a fucking clown car. It should have been 6 or 7-1 going into this inning. Now you're probably going to lose the fucking game. Bunts and Juan Pierre are destroying this team.

Between the bunts and the outs on the bases, they've got about 7-1/3 innings to score while the opponents have 9. The only time they catch a break is when they play against that moron Scioscia who is dumber than Guillen.

There will be a silver lining when Thornton blows this game. We won't have to hear Hawk's annoying voice for the rest of the game.

Green is just as stupid as Ozzie. Why, when the pitcher walks the leadoff man, would you think bunting with the next batter a good idea? You have three outs to work with. So, hey, let's just give one away. That sounds like a great idea.

Yeah. It's sweet to have it go the other way for once. Santos didn't have it. He couldn't locate for shit. You could see him and A.J. exhaling after the free out. "We're a third of the way home." I thought Billy Beane teams were supposed to be so smart.

Nice win, Men and a hell of a road trip. Buehrle has been fantastic his last few starts and the bullpen has been very good. Time to take care of business at home.

I swear I heard Hawk say today that Konerko is one of the best fastball hitters ever to play the game. And then said that 98% of all players do not know what to do with their legs while hitting. It is all reaction. WTF is he babbling about? Konerko is the greatest at all of this ? I was LMAO. Paul Konerko first ballot HOF. My ass.

He has 375 career HRs, and that is with a couple of piss poor seasons at the plate (2003 and 2008). If he sticks around another 4-5 years and gets to 500 HR, you will probably see him in the HOF. He seems to be one of the guys that has done it the right way too.

Hawk is saying more and more of this is "Greatest I have seen in my 50some years in this game." Its annoying. That said, it was great to hear him and Wimpy again this weekend.

Not sure about Konerko in the hall

But "Greatest I ever saw..." has always been Hawk's thing. You must just notice it more now.

The best I ever saw at picking the ball up off the dirt when it got away, as a catcher, was Johnny Bench- Hawk

Paulie has had a great run over the past 1 1/3 years. It's rare to see a person his age get better in the post steroid era.

Konerko falls into the category of guys who are just below Hall of Fame level, like Andre Dawson.
