The thing that strikes me as most inconsistent about Frank and steroids is that he played SEC football in the late 80s. I'd be shocked if someone wasn't on steroids in that era. So we are to believe that Frank was involved in 2 sports at some of the highest levels available, both had rampant steriod problems, that steroids probably would have helped his play without being specifically banned by the sports but he chose not to take them. That would be a young man of incredibly high intergrity.

That is a great point gd. It would not surprise me to learn that any professional or college player was on the juice.

Doesnt sound like him.

And Id like to know CSFMB's opinion on whether or not Tiger has been Roiding, HGHing, etc.

I don't disagree with the thought however why is he seemingly above all this? Nobody ever mentions his name with steroids and people say oh no Thomas didn't do it. Of course it's kind of the same with Walter Payon but was Thomas that big of a star?

He was on W&S today. It struck me a little odd how he kind of glosses over steroids, or says that a few of the people that did them are 1st ballot HoFers anyway. He's not mad or anything. I don't know maybe it's his personality.

He didn't do it. Neither did Konerko. Think about it. Konerko and Thomas are the only two guys in the last 15 years to hit 400 HRs (Konerko will get 400 this year) without being suspected of doing steroids. Pretty cool that they're both White Sox players. Seriously. Name another guy in the last 15 years to get at least 400 HRs that was clean.

Jim Thome is one guy that has avoided speculation and that "golly-shucks", brainless phony was a user. No doubt in my mind.

You want that to be true because it is your team. But you do not know that he didn't. good dolphin makes a strong case.

Frank was the only guy to volunteer to speak before Congress when others were forced to come. Mcquire didn't want to talk about the past and Sosa said he didn't know English. Frank answered all the questions. I don't know too many guys that volunteer to commit purgery. Do you?

Proves everything. Plus I just said that Thome did steroids so you can't say I only back Sox players. I'm also 50/50 on Carlos Quentin being on human growth hormones. I win again!!!!!

You could say the exact same thing about dolphin's point.

It's really simple to make allegations against someone without having any proof other than "I think this is so". The steroid argument has become completely based on heresay, and is immediately brought up whenever an athlete has success in his/her sport. It is a shame that a few athletes actually have used the juice, because this just fuels the fire of whistleblowers.

Besides Canseco, who else in baseball would you consider a whistleblower?

Certainly not bully Hendry.

In baseball, there have been few. I do not know the names of all players in that sport who have spoken out to the extent of Canseco, but I do know many players hold the opinion that steroids are an issue in their sport. For example, in a 2005 survey 79% of players polled believed this to be the case. The cool thing about surveys, of course, is that they are incredibly subjective.

In all sports? Yes, in comparison to those who have not.

Responding anonymously to a survey that doesn't name a single name does not make you a whistleblower. Try again.

Did anyone go to the book signing. I dropped a couple of hints that I wanted the signed book, that it would make a great father's day present but that I was too tired to go...and not a single one of those ingrates went out to get it.

I don't think there's any question that Konerko is on some kind of 'roids or HGH.

I appreciate the effort but I'll give them a call myself. I'm thinking about getting it for my dad for father's day even though he isn't a white sox fan.

It reminds me of coming home last night. I asked my oldest son if he wanted to go. I told him Frank Thomas was the first baseball name he ever said. He told me he only said it for me and he didn't really care. When I saw just how far Naperville was, I bailed.

If you change your mind let me know. I go to the farmers market on Saturdays or the library so the DG location is no big deal to pop in. I'm probably going shopping in Naperville soon too.

Wow.

Couldn't he have just kicked you in the balls instead? That's pretty harsh...

From May 2002 -
Frank Thomas wants baseball to start testing for steroids, saying he feels "cheated" if other players are using drugs.
"I don't know who's on and who's not on," the two-time MVP said Wednesday before the Chicago White Sox played the New York Yankees. "There is definitely more activity in the weight room nowadays. I was hoping that it was just old guys working hard in the weight room. "I really think it's time for testing. It really is."

That quote was 5 mins after his dealer told him about the untestable HGH

Frank Thomas never hit over .277 after he made that comment.
