Couldn't think of a witty comeback to that one... :(

I gotta say that my headset/mic doesn't work for shit ... actually, neither of them do - the one that came w/ my xbox years ago as well as the new one I horked from my brother who had recently bought one of them new-fangled black xboxes.

Is there something better out there than the oem headset - that isn't pricey?!? I don't think I actually heard 1/3 of what CiJ was saying last night and instead had to play a fine round of "guess what the other person is saying", which I think I did well at, but don't want to make a habit of.

Here is a variety of them in all types of price ranges. I would recommend picking out the one you like and usually you can get it cheaper on ebay or craigslist

I usually don't have much time to play the box during the week but I will be probably be playing this game sometime this weekend.

I want one that's cheap and I know I can hear other people and be heard by other people AND won't "jiggle" in the jack and keep connecting/disconnecting depending on whether I move, breathe, fart, or blink.

How does an idiot like me know which one to get? I can tell the cheap part; the rest I cannot.

From what I have heard, all of the turtle beach products are pretty good. A couple of my buddies have them and they swear by them.

are those mics a lot better than the one that came with the Xbox? I have the one that came with it and it kinda sucks, but I've never had anything else to compare it to so I don't know if that's an issue with the cheap ass mic or if all mics kinda suck when it comes to chatting with other players.

Any of you guys interested in meeting up tonight and playing this game? Last night Chris and I played a tournament together, ended up being real solid game.

I'm gonna go to Best Buy and look into getting a better mic today cause mine is pretty lousy.

I shall endeavor to keep this in mind.

Also, for those with shitty headset/mics .... a viable solution I found last night was to (a) make sure you change your settings to allow voice to go through both your headset AND your speakers (assuming you have sound output going to a stereo - if you don't this still might work), and (b) drop pretty much everything for sound in the game (e.g., effects, ambient) to no more than '2', then turn the stereo/tv up a fuckload. Even if you can't hear the others through your headset, you'll hear them through the speakers and apparently you will still be able to speak into the mic and be heard well. I believe it worked well enough last night w/ Chris and his buddy.

Just picked up a new headset at Best Buy for $30. It looks fancy and its that tiger company that free ajent was talking about so I'm assuming it should be a nice upgrade for me.

Gonna also try to lower the other settings like Tiny suggested.

Don't worry, I'm gonna keep you around long enough to explain all the intricacies of the left wing lock and the neutral zone trap as well as the virtues of using an umbrella power play system. :hockey: :hockey:
