I have a shitty clock radio in my office. One of the $9 specials from Walgreens and it is actually a huge pain in the ass to get the dial exactly on The Score or AM 1000 without any White Noise.

Todays White Sox Spring Training game has pushed me to AM 1000 for the spring.

Not saying it is North's fault, just happen to be the section I am in.

So, I really won't be listening to Mike for quite some time.

I guess that 'carry Over" effect not working so well on me

While I don't change because of the Sox, I keep my AM radio on the same dial for a long period of time because it sucks too.

I think it is like that for most AM listeners, even the WLS'ers and GN'ers too. They put the dial on a station and stay.

It's not like driving in the car and when North starts telling me how he knew thos or that, after the fact, and I can flip the control on the steering wheel.

I love the Sox, but man is that Farmio a JagBag

Do you know of any walkman's that give both AM/FM as well as the option of either MP3's, or satellite radio ?

Coach- 160 bucks is a deal- it's actually 164.99 (and we forgot to add tax as well)

Coach,

if you're looking for a reasonably priced alternative try either the Grundig (FR 200-450) or the Kaito 007-009 models

My dad lives in "hurricane alley" and bought the Grundig FR-200 so I had a chance to play with it when I was down there in January. I was very impressed. 100 turns of the crank gives you 30 minutes of play time & the reception was a lot better than I expected (while channel scanning one night I even got WGN) :-)

The only negatives are there is no AC adaptor included (you have to buy it separately) and the dial doesn't light up making tuning a bit of a challenge.

Now with that being said I just ordered a Kaito 009 for myself. The reasons I opted for the Kaito is that the AC adaptor is included and they have 4 SW bands, TV 1/2, aviation/marine and weather channels. (the Grundig only has AM-FM, Weather, and 2 SW bands). The Kaito also has a built in solar panel for charging outdoors even while running the radio.

Both are around $40.00 each most places although I found a Kaito on sale for $30.00

Bought a $6 AM/FM at Menards.

Sucks

but it was really small thought I could take it to the game to hear the amazing insight of a Ron Santo.
