Will be seeing today , the only question is 3D or not?
I got eye problems so 3D does not work all that well for me so I will prob just see the normal version.
You know how big of a Geek I am? wearing Hal Jordan tShirt and a Green Lantern Ring when I go to see this !

I'm prepared to be hugely disappointed by this movie, but I will be seeing it this weekend.

I have low expectations for this movie...Green Lantern isn't that fascinating of a comic book character. To me, he's sort of on par with Daredevil for Marvel, and we know how great that movie was.

That said, I'll probably donate my 9 bucks to the theatre if it's raining tomorrow.

IMO Green Lantern is a far better character than Daredevil. Especially if you include the entirity of the Green Lantern Corps and the emotional spectrum.

Hal Jordan is one of the best written characters out there. He is my second fav behind Tony Stark.
I am glad they are starting with Jordan and not Stewart. They are talking a three movie arc.The end of this movie sets up the next one with the fall of Sinestro /birth of the Yellow rings.Rumors are they are going to intro the other Corps as well.I also heard that another Lantern makes a cameo in this movie, make sure to watch for it.
Hal if they did it strict to the comic book would be running the gambit from hero to villian to hero to something beyond hero back to hero.
What I want to see is how they plan on doing a Justice League movie .As it stands right now they have none of the actors from the character movies signed to do it, so we will see.

I will see I might have to go in throwing away all I know about GL and the Corps to enjoy the movie but I am optimistic. This and Capt America are my hopes for a good summer.

It looks like it relies too heavily on CGI. I'm pretty sure I'll be disappointed.

For it to work it would have to due to the very nature of what the ring is/can do.It can create anything you can imagine from a bubble to FTL to a machinegun. Now that is one thing I will get on them about in the previews I seen Hal creating stuff like that.He never does, his constructs are usually more simplistic devices and non military.Stewart had the Military constructs.

I'm a huge Green Lantern fan, he was always my favorite growing up, but I have very small expectations for this movie. For one, the orgin story of GL is just not that interesting and to a logtime comic book fan, its a story I've seen/read a hundred times already. The GL story doesn't get interesting until Sinestro goes yellow and from the sound of things, that doesn't happen this movie.

Also, if they really wanted to step out on a limb and make a truly interesting GL movie, they would ditch Hal Jordan in favor of the much more entertaining Guy Gardner. Hal Jordan is basically a cookie cutter superhero with very little complexity to his character. Guy Gardner is a much more interesting character.

If they ever do a Justice League movie I hope they realize this and use Gardner instead of Jordan. Jordan's personality is basically no different than Batman, Superman, Flash or any other bland DC superhero. Guy Gardner would be a perfect bad cop to all those boy scouts. But, I doubt DC would be smart enough to realize this.

Okay just back and it was okay.
They did some things right but the things done wrong outweigh the good parts. The biggest wrong thing is who they cast as lead. I like Reynolds but just not as Hal.He would be a perfect Barry Allen/Flash. Hal is a test pilot and has a little bit of dash and derring duo to him that is lacking. This comes to the second bad thing, they went with the old tired routine I have seen a hundred times over in Hero movies of the hero not being sure of himself and that my friends in over 30 years of GL history Hal Jordan has never been.Even when he was doing his bit to destroy the universe he never showed doubt in himself. Not enough scenes of him on Oa learning about using the ring and one huge glaring point .....spoiler alert.........

There is no way they would let him quit and leave the planet with the ring, just not done they would have made him choose a new owner.

end spoiler

The other thing that is now common in Superhero movies is the Hero letting those close to him know his secret identity. Why keep it a secret which is usually done to protect those closest to you when instead in these movies they are letting those same people in on the secret.

The good things are the few fight scenes and the time Sinestro is on screen, stay for the obligatory after credit scene , nothing major like with the Marvel movies just set up for part 2.
Blake Livley is good with her screen time and they did mess up her in this version of the story,She can't become the Star Saffire because of this.I still liked her.
Peter Skaarsgaard was a good villian and the rest of the Corp was okay . One thing was there was a scene they shot with Guy Gardner in it they did not use so there goes that.SHakes I like guy too but Hal is the Greatest Lantern ever and not to use him from the first movie would have been B.S. Just remember there are 4 Lanterns of Earth, 5 if you count ALen Scott. So the franchise can go a long way with several reboots.

3 1/2 out of 5.I Hope Capt America does not let me down.

Also Trailers for Fright night makes that movie look incredible!

eh, i've seen the trailer and i'm gonna go ahead and disagree wholeheartedly. first of all, they made evil be the believer?? the fuck is that shit? and it looks like they're just borrowing elements from "the lost boys" (which i'm sure will also be remade sometime) too. and it doesn't look like they kept the peter vincent character who was one of the best characters in the original.

looks really weak.

Actually, the "Vincet" character was previewed in an earlier clip. Maybe they made a mistake and disregarded that part in the new movie. I loved the first Fright Night and will see this one, too.

Green Lantern=3.75 out of 5 stars

Really enjoyed this movie (More then THOR). The special effects and time spent on OA were excellent. There was something missing though. It seemed like they replaced character building scenes with more action. There is no interplay with the rest of civilization. It's just GL & the cast going from one green screen scene to another. Still there are many things to like about this film. Sinestro was excellent,Abin Sur looked great,The blue guys were presented in an eerie fashion, very cool. It's a great movie to look at,great cinematography. The man behind the movie was Geoff Johns who has written for GL comics. I plan on seeing it again with my wife. I like Ryan Reynolds but might have gone with another actor who has a more "serious" presense. I like Kyle Chandler (coach-Friday Night Lights),he would have made a fine GL.
