To the desert. The Diamondbacks are the only team with a record above .500 that the Sox face in interleague play. Questions arise with this matchup. How many games does Dunn sit? Is Ozzie dumb enough to give him a glove and have him play left field? Who hits leadoff if Pierre is on the bench? Who is better, Daniel Hudson or Edwin Jackson? Are there any nekkid chicks in the pool in right field? Will Arizona authorities harass all of the non-white players on the Sox and demand that they prove their citizenship?

Pitching Matchups:

Tonight: Edwin Jackson (4-5, 4.39 ERA) vs Daniel Hudson (7-5, 3.82 ERA)
Tomorrow: John Danks (2-8, 4.54 ERA) vs Zach Duke (1-1, 6.48 ERA)
Sunday: Philip Humber (6-3, 2.95 ERA) vs Josh Collmenter (4-2, 1.86 ERA)

This is a situation where 2 of 3 isn't out of the question, which means they'll be lucky to win 1 game.

Not really. But it'd be nice.

Looks like our buddy Joe West will be calling the balls and strikes....

I also think you stick Dunn out in left field, we have had worse.... old JD, Griffy Jr

Daniel Hudson 16-8 3.48 ERA in his short MLB career. That one is going to hurt for a long time.

Don't think he has been very good this year. I guess it doesn't bother me all that much considering the target was bringing in Dunn. Everybody was clamoring for a left handed power bat last year.

If Joe West is calling balls & strikes, you know that Ken "Hawk" Harrelson will be bitchin' & moanin' on Comcast SportsNet this eve...

Speaking of "Strikeout Machines", Adam Dunn's not the only one who swings & misses in this series. Diamondbacks' 2B Kelly Johnson (Didn't he do a radio show at B96 many years ago called "Private Lives"?) has 80 K's going into tonight's Interleague series in the All-Star city of Phoenix.

According to a the MLB.com Dbacks guy, the D-Backs led the league in strikeouts last year. Could be a good matchup for Jackson.

This is not looking good.... really glad that we keep putting out the same lineup out there, its not like we have two players on the bench who have been hitting well and one in the AAA doing the same.

I still cannot get upset over the Hudson for Jackson trade, we were trying to bring in Adam Dunn, Kenny Williams wouldn't have done it otherwise. Rizzo pulled some bullshit at the last minute.

If the Sox don't make the playoffs this year, I think it is fair to say Kenny and Ozzie should be fired. The leash has been long enough for these two and nothing noteworthy has happened since 2005.

A change is necessary for this team to become a contender again.

Maybe Ozzie, not Kenny. The Sox have won in 08 and been in contention all but one year. I guess the argument for firing Kenny could be that if they need to rebuild he may not be the man, but I think Kenny has done a good job overall.

This team is a hitter or two away from contending... they will contend if they play more consistent and hit better. They cannot afford to be streaky.

What does need to happen is Juan Pierre needs to be fucking benched. Ozzie on the pregame said "I have to play him, he's the small guy, makes things happen. I know he's been struggling."

No he fucking doesn't make things happen and you do not have to play him. I still maintain that Kenny Williams has to tell him to sit him if he refuses too. He has veto power.

Only way Pierre gets benched is if he rapes Oney.

Just sayin.

I'd be ok with that.

Kenny is going nowhere as long as he wants the job.

When is Ozzie going to give Juan a few games off? He has done it for everyone else who has struggled. Never, because of some fucking delusional thinking that we need to play some little flea at leadoff. Even if he cannot steal anymore.

This is a game we have to pull out. Can't waste good starting pitching for 3 staight games.
