Thanks. Still, though, waiting for someone to say "You're right, Beardown" in a genuine fashion. Or address my legit questions. Nobody wants to do that. I figured as much.

KS, if surgery is as doomed as you think, I'd like you to say a prayer in the "Shoutout section" every time an athlete goes under the knife. It happens every day. So you'll be busy. It's not that big of a deal. If you want to do it for every person that has surgery, you'll never stop posting.

You're wrong, and an idiot.

Good day.

My "a couple of surgerys" was in response to those who thought Larry was gonns save all from "crohon's desiese" by spreading the word and helping them. I was simply saying that anybody who has the disiese, knows what will happen. That's why I said the steps were simple and standard and that Larry wasn't needed. It is standard and simple. You took it to a different place.

While I have you, KS, why werent' you appalled by B&B making fun of Santo. He had surgery to remove his legs. Shouldn't you have scolded them?

I, personally, think it's dispicable for anybody to talk about their personal problems to strangers. Don't want to hear it. What Larry did was worse than just talking about his problems cuz, how I took it, he told us we were lucky that he survived. That's dispicable. In my mind, someone like Larry, is talking to strangers since he's really not that big of a deal despite what he thinks. Shut up, bitch. Cry to your family and friends who might care. Not the radio audience.

I don't listen to Larry anymore. Don't comment on him much at all recently. Heard the tease on B&B, which I often listen to, and stayed for the beginning of Larry's show cuz the "I'm gonna tell you about my hosbital stay" got my interest. I knew it was gonna be fun-bad from what I know of Larry.

I do listen when he subs with Bernstein. That's about it. I like Bernstein and will listen to his sub co hosts.

No. It's not about using the "disease card". Shame on you for not realizing that. I've explained it enough. I'm using the "Jack ass card", "Douch bag card" and "Self-loving card". I'm holding all 3 so I win. Nothing beats those 3 cards.

Someone sure is trying really hard to get thrown into the "fuckstick" pile by a lot of people. It would appear it is working very well.

The "cry to someone who cares, bitch" probably didn't come across how I meant it.

I meant it to mean don't tell me that "I didn't want to worry you" and " I did it now cuz I'm most valuable in Bears season" and " I came in today cuz I didn't want to let 'cubs/Sox' get in the way of my story." I can't believe somebody would say that in his situation.

That's how I meant it.

Every person that's made life changing money in radio talks about their personal life. At least in the last thirty years. There are many non-radio personalities that are uncomfortable doing that with their family and friends. It's uncomfortable for some, and some of those people are just cowardly. The benefit of the last fifteen years, is having the ability to speak their mind with no consequences. They will only be judged by other masked individuals. Unless they eventually show their face.

Laurence is far from a perfect host or dude. Certainly good though. The overwhelming hate is stunning. Especially if it can help a cause for an affliction I can't imagine having.

i think its just larry's positive attitude towards things that people hate. for whatever reason, people get jealous when others make salad from shit. instead of praising that person for overcoming adversity, we get people with small dicks who try to make their junk seem bigger by talking a bunch of shit.

Beardown with his worst loss in years.

One has to wonder if the program can recover from such a big blow. The boosters are upset. The alumni are writing letters.

You keep bringing up Santo. From what I understand, he was almost undoubtedly a much larger douche than Larry on a personal level. He also brought much of his hardships onto himself. There's a huge difference. But even if there wasn't a huge difference, the stance taken by B&B would still be alright, because they're B&B, and you're not.

Oh. Ok. So it's OK if it's done by your rankings of who deserves it more and it's only OK to do so if you're B&B in your mind? Gotcha. That logic is very impressive.

There's a difference between talking about one's personal life and making it the focal point of one's shows.

There are literally tens of people that listen to the Score ONLY because of Larry. They call into his show and declare it. He was talking to them.

So you guys are saying Larry has a heigtened sense of how important he is?

You dont say.

Anyway, how do you not like Curious Hair? Best poster this side of StoneRoses.

Did Laurence (thats his name folks! /SHARK doing Mcneil) call himself a hero? No

He doesnt have to....when its so obvious

Funny that Dr Ken, Larry's self described number one fan, hasnt shown up.

Shake that

Give me a break. Holmes isn't Rush Limbaugh, Howard Stern or a (vintage era) Steve Dahl. He is a third-rate bit player on a second-rate sports station. The vast majority of his audience listens because they like sports talk, not him; Holmes's show is not personality-driven because he has no personality. By virtue of his broadcasting style, he is attempting to align himself with some of the country's broadcasting giants. But even a notorious narcissist like Keith Olbermann wouldn't pull the crap Holmes tries on a regular basis. A lot of people with significantly greater stature than he will ever enjoy regularly experience enormous tragedies and triumphs in their lives. But they don't feel compelled to report on them in excruciating detail during their programs because they are not deluded enough to conflate the narrator with the narrative, the messenger with the message, or the host with his subject matter. In the final analysis, Holmes' plight is similar to that of a pulp writer who has mistaken himself for James Joyce. His limited appeal lies exclusively in his ability to engage generic conventions, not in his desire to "transcend" them. His hubris lies in the belief that his "special" brand of broadcasting does not need to adhere to those conventions.

Look, if you dont believe the people calling in and explicitly stating "Youre the best Laurence! You are the reason I listen to the Score" than I dont know what to tell you.

Yes, he's adopted the Stern Dahl style

You think he's bad and shouldnt even attempt it.
Fine.

Some people like it. Personally I like hearing about Laurence's world more than him talking about sports. I listen to be entertained and to laugh. Maybe thats weird for sports radio but whatever.

The segment was not even the least bit surprising to his fans and Ill bet they liked it for the most part.

Someday Midge

Someday you WILL SHAKE THAT

So his strategy is to target the sliver of the station's listenership that listen to hear his thoughts while ignoring the rest of the audience? Good idea.

I have heard people call into Holmes' show to shower him with praise. A lot of those callers sound pretty similar. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same guy calling in repeatedly--maybe Noisewater feels stymied by Bigfan's mult eradication campaign and has taken his act to the airwaves.

Glad Laurence is ok. I had no problem with him taking a segment to describe what he was going through. It's his show, after all. He didn't call himself a hero. He thanked a bunch of people from the station and JD and Hood from WMVP. He explained what problems he's had and what potentialy could have gone wrong with the procedure. Nothing near as self important or inappropriate as Beardown and Tall Midget would have you believe. He did it....it's over....big fuckin deal...

Late to the party, but I agree with Beardown here. I also heard this speech/disclaimer on the radio while driving the other day and thought it was incredibly self-rightous and a little uncomfortable to listen to at times. I'm really not sure how many people Larry thinks really like his shows, but that's not even the point. There is something to be said for people who keep their personal matters personal and out of the workplace. I respect that very much.

And you can go back to pretending that you have inside "sources" at the Score. :alien:

While we're on the topic of socially unacceptable behavior, it's wrong to surprise somebody with a hospital visit. I think Larry said Hood did this after finding out of his situation. While it seems nice, it's wrong on a couple of levels for a couple of reasons.

Not a fan of LoHo, but I agree completely with this.

This is like the people who bitch about Bernsie talking about his kids for a couple mins here and there. It was a few mins out of a good size show, get over it.

why the fuck do you care? who the fuck would come visit you in a hospital? your family abandoned you for no reason, and you think people will want to come see your dying carcass?
