SI.com's Jon Heyman has confirmed that the Marlins have hired Jack McKeon as interim manager.

What the fuck is this organization doing? Last year they fired a very good manager in Fredi Gonzalez and appointed Edwin Rodriguez manager who never should have been because he's clearly overmatched and now they re-hire 80 year old Jack McKeon. They're 1-17 in June and if they are looking for a repeat of 2003 it ain't gonna happen. The Ozzie rumors will persist but this is clearly one fucked up team.

Jack McKeon may have replaced Jeff Torborg in 2003 and guided the Florida Marlins to their second World Series title in franchise history, but that was 8 years ago...

This guy is 80 years old, for crying out loud! Anyone who thinks McKeon will get anything out of this Marlins' team when you've got a guy in SS Hanley Ramirez thumbing his nose at his former skipper is kidding themselves! The Marlins are only 1-17 in June and have lost 10 in a row going into tonight's home Interleague game with the Anaheim Angels! If McKeon's looking for miracles with this team, it's not happening! McKeon's hiring is nothing more than a stopgap and management down there wants to make a big splash with a new ballpark and to spike ticket sales by luring Ozzie away from the Southside. They won't be satisfied until Guillen trades in White Sox silver & black for Marlins teal & black.

There is no "may have" about that. He DID replace Torborg back in '03

You are correct, Frank, but it was part of a longer sentence...That was 8 years ago when Jack filled out the lineup card down there.

SHARK is age-ist. Connie Mack managed the A's in his late 80's, and that was over 60 years ago. I'd take Jack in Chicago if the Marlins don't hire him.

I would laugh my ass off if McKeon turns it around for them again. Not likely, but that would be pretty damn hilarious.

Well, Eaglo, stranger things have happened...The Marlins lost 2-1 to the Angels last night in a game where SS Hanley Ramirez showed up late at the ballpark and Jack McKeon promptly benched him. They've lost 11 in a row now, but Ramirez is scheduled to be back in the lineup tonight vs. Anaheim.

I don't know if this has been brought up this weekend, but first the Marlins-Mariners series is moved to Seattle because of an U2 concert. The stadium people wanted the 80,000 people instead of 10,000 to go to a place, so 5,000 people can watch.

Not a big problem with that, but why did that game start at 10 eastern tonight, it's Sunday the ESPN game should be the last one.

Reents, I'm not sure. As far as I know, the ONLY team that regularly plays on "Sunday Night Baseball" besides the ESPN broadcast are the Texas Rangers. That's because it tends to get real, real hot in the Dallas MetroPlex during the months of July & August.

It did look awkward seeing the Mariners listed as the visiting team and the Marlins as the home team in Seattle. Then again, I remember the G8 Summit a couple years ago forced the Blue Jays & Phillies to play a similar series in Philadelphia instead of Toronto, complete with the Jays as the "home" and the Phillies as the "away".
