 I disagree with him. I think IU probably sees the biggest dropoff for next year. I am not sure who plays QB.

Then again, if some of the rumors are true then IU is going to pull off quite a recruiting victory this year. It is early though.

I have not been paying much attention to IU football lately, what are the rumors about recruiting?

They are the front runner for the #1 pro style QB in the country. He's rated similarly to Kyle Orton coming out of high school. I believe his brother plays for IU now. His name is Gunner Kiel. There are a ton of big boys in on him too though and he'll be tough to keep even if he does commit.

They have some other good ones so far, but just like the past few years, they may lose them before signing day.

I thought Gunner was an Oklahoma lean. Cats offered him too, I believe.

Rumors are out there that IU is now in good shape but then again it's recruiting and no one really knows until it's settled.

Who was his lead recruiter at OU?

I see where you are going with this... if it was Wilson before he left you mean? Undoubtedly that is where Wilson first became familiar with him.

I'm not privy to that much info on Kiel, but I would be absolutely shocked if he ended up at Indiana.

I like the QB situation, not that either candidate is particularly great but that there are two OK options and I think one will step up and perform reasonably OK for a sophomore. The offensive line should improve (from a low base) with some experience. The front seven is OK. They aren't a good team, but I could see them Northwesterning their way to bowl eligibility. Most likely is a 4-8 or 5-7 that nonetheless feels better than last year's team: no 60 point losses or thrashings by Illinois-types.

Correct. If Wilson was the guy doing the recruiting, he could like IU because of that.

I'd be surprised too especially since at IU you basically are spending your 4 years there trying to lead the team to 7 or 8 wins instead of other places where you can be going for BCS bowls and national titles.

I go the opposite way. I think QB was one of the better things they had last year and now he's gone.

Given that IU did quit in a few games last year though, I don't see the major losses coming like last year.

Been doing some reading on IU football the last couple of days and it seems like most folks are pretty happy with Wilson so far. But hell he does not have to be that good to be better than the boob he followed. If he found a way to land Gunner that would be HUGE for a program like IU. But it is one of those things I will believe when I see.

Bump, Wisconsin go down this road again, last year Russell Wilson, this season it will be Former Maryland QB Danny O'Brien.
