Here's hoping I have the fortune of getting matched against the 'Team of Four'...and that I have the even greater fortune of beating them by 20 kills or more...

...I want a steak!

Well, you're not a fan of Halo, so are you saying it's going to be similar, or even worse in your opinion?

Halo was fantastic for what it was, it was the first serious contribution to online gaming and FPS on consoles. It had that going for it, it could have been a crappy game and still had a following for that alone. It wasn't anything special, but it was serviceable.

Now they don't have the luxury of being a "first." Now they have to develop something that rivals other games in terms of technical advancements and gameplay advancements. Bungie hasn't been ahead of the curve in a long time, they've been banking off of a name's reputation.

These aren't shots at Halo or Bungie, just my opinions. Sci-fi shooters never have and never will be my thing, this is why Respawn's first effort does not appeal to me as of yet.

You make some good points.

While I'm not ready to say it will suck, I'll go out on the awfully short limb and say that this new universe will not be as successful as Halo...yeah, I know, that's a tough statement to make...

Although Halo wasn't my thing, Halo was MUCH more than just the first good FPS on a console. They revolutionized the CONSOLE lobby system, pushed the interactiveness with the fan community to personalize the player experience through "The Forge", and spawned an entire library of fiction. Halo's weapon, map and vehicle design were innovative and truly beautiful. I certainly bag on lipid's baby all the time, but I genuinely have respect for that franchise.

Funny you should say that, IMU. That's the time, ironically, when I only played PC games (perhaps I was a young imu at the time). Quake III Arena and Age of Empires were my crack cocaine back then. I think Quake III Arena came out a year before Perfect Dark. I've seen both and I preferred the online experience that Quake gave you... and the graphics seemed much better to me.

Now I'm sure you'll correct me, but it was my opinion that back in 2000, the graphics differences between consoles and PC were much greater.

Unusual that I know more about this Bungie game than you do.

You don't. I'm just not willing to jump to an absurd conclusion that this is just Halo with a different name based on what little information that document gives us.

Fair enough.

Which part of "sci-fantasy, action shooter" makes you think it'll be different?

bungie on dat activision ish

When asked before, they've said they are working on an MMO...an MMOFPS would be a difference, no?

I'd consider Gears a sci-fantasy action shooter series...I'd say those games were very different.

I remember when Bungie was in Chicago, near south loop, I did a few service calls there back when I was a Field Engineer for SGI,

then they took the Microsoft cash and went out west....

sigh
