How do they get so many concussions in Minnesota? Is it because of all the hockey? Or is it the large women?

Maybe if Morneau wasn't wrestling bears and drinking all that soda, he would still be alive today. Yes, it seems that the Golden Arches are at least partially responsible for the premature demise of the Twins' 1B...

My wife just called me.

She heard the Sox lineup and our dog threw up and died.

The lineup is in for tonight's first of 4 vs. the Twins' Carl Pavano. The lineup goes like this...

1 Juan "2 Hits and Nothing to Show for It!" Pierre LF
11 Omar "Pay Attention, Brent Morel!" Vizquel 3B
14 Paul "Batting 3rd Tonight? YES!" Konerko 1B
32 Adam "2 More K's Yesterday" Dunn DH
51 Alex "What's Wrong with Him?" Rios CF
12 A.J. "At Least I Got a Walk..." Pierzynski C
10 Alexei "Batting 7th Again...Why?" Ramirez SS
23 Mark "Got to Play Sometime" Teahen RF
15 Gordon "Got a Single...Got Stranded in 6th" Beckham 2B

Philip "All-Star Bound?" Humber starts tonight for the White Sox, still seeking their first "W" vs. Minnesota this season.

I suppose I should be glad to see Paulie batting 3rd. That seems right. Maybe he'll get more RBI chances when he doesn't have a DP/K guy right in front of him to fuck up, but that being said... I don't think Dunn and Rios protect Paulie at all. The way I see this lineup, Paulie won't get a pitch to hit tonight.

There is only 1 team in the AL that could have a worse looking lineup than the Sox tonite.

And that is the Twins

Why do I have this feeling those goofy calls are coming Ranger's way later tonight when the Twins beat the White Sox again? Ranger's "Xfinity Feedback Zone Postgame Show" will be can't miss radio if that's the case...

Sandberg got into the HoF by being just "above average"? Maybe Joe Morgan is right!

.795 for a middle infielder sounds HOF calibre to me.

That's because it's better than just "above average".

Maybe we could solve this All-Star selection boondoggle by stocking the team with 15 first basemen and 7 left fielders

But now, you're describing the steroid era, SABRmetric view of baseball where defense- particularly on the corners- isn't highly valued. In that world, you would probably be better off playing nine Albert Pujolses (if you had them) and dealing with the defensive consequences.

I don't take issue with the numbers. They are what they are. But the 90s and the 30s are quite possibly the only eras where such a philosophy might actually have been a sound one. And probably not the 30s because the strikeout rates were so much lower.

No team could afford to pay 9 Albert Pujolseses. Not even the Yankees.

I was speaking hypothetically, Frank. You've already made it abundantly clear that if you had nine Pujolses, one of them would have to sit so Juan Pierre could bat leadoff.

You've suggested as much. You obviously believe Pierre is more suitable to leadoff than Quentin. Am I mistaken?

Suggested does not equal said.

I would not lead off Carlos Quentin. That doesn't mean I'd play Juan Pierre though.

So theoretically, if you had three Carlos Quentins (or guys exactly like him) would one of them supplant Pierre in your lineip and batting order?
