More than they'd get from him walking away after the season.

I'd rather have had Rasmus.

I would too, but the Sox don't have the extra pieces that St Louis wanted for Rasmus.

Money dump sure, but you get a couple of things:

1. Another bullpen arm - Frasor is a serviceable right handed arm who could be moved as soon as he gets to town
2. Reduced salary for the rest of the year.
3. 5 M off the books for next year in Teahan
4. One open slot on the 25 man roster to bring up DeAza or Viciedo.

I thought De Aza filled that slot...

He has officially. And the best news is that apparently Rios has been benched.

They also got a Jays top prospect in Zach Stewart in the deal who is listed in the top Jays 5-8 by most publications. (The Jays farm system is also in the top 10)

I just saw an interview with Teahen and he said he was disappointed that injury and opportuity didn't line up here. He had all the opportunities in the world but he played like a dick. Funny how he left that part out.

Mark Teahen was painful to watch at the plate, before and after the injuries he suffered during his time here. Besides, he was flat out rotten at third base, even before Ozzie started platooning him and Brent Morel at third since the All-Star Break.

One has to wonder if Omar Vizquel starting at third base is only the beginning now that Teahen is history. I still think a platoon is in play with Vizquel and Morel covering the tabs at third.

Why say anything? why not just put De Aza out there and give the standard "we'll give time to whomever is playing hot" thing until at least after the trade deadline so as not to KILL all value, or hell you're gonna put him on waivers, don't you want some nitwit to pick him up off that wire?

Some nitwit already claimed him off waivers...a couple years ago.

Funny how all the Rios supporters (Frank amongst them) are very silent these days on this subject. When I was critical of Kenny's claim of Rios there were many people saying it was a great move. Where are those people now???

No, you didn't. http://www.score670.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=842374#p842374 You seemed to be just fine with it and you thought that Edwin Jackson and Jenks may have been too much to pay for Adam Dunn.

I don't think many people said it was a great move but that he had up to that point played well enough for what they are paying him. That is no longer true.

I don't recall the argument being made that Rios would ever be batting .205 heading into August. He's been an erratic player, and most that I know knew there was risk in picking up his contract. Last season, he played well. This year, he's been awful.

I don't think anyone ever had the intention of picking up the contract. It was a move to block the Tigers gone horribly wrong.

The White Sox get back a B level prospect in Stewart for Jackson, about what I thought they would get. Stewart is probably in the rotation by next season, and maybe sooner.

Getting rid of Teahan's contract was also a good move. Williams made a bad decision in rushing to sign him.

Frasor is regarded as very good reilever so they aren't giving up on the season, yet.

All they did, in my opinion, was move back to a 5 man rotation and add another good reliever to the mix.

It could be true, but I'm on the fence in believing that they would take on such an expensive contract just to avoid the Tigers getting him.

I think the Sox were stunned that they let him go for nothing rather than pulling him back.

Blue Jays acquired LHP Trever Miller from the Cardinals in the Colby Rasmus deal.

Miller told Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he hasn't heard anything about being flipped to the White Sox, contrary to an earlier report from ESPN's Buster Olney, so it looks like he'll stay put for now.

Yeah, stay put.

The Blue Jays confirmed Wednesday evening that Trever Miller will not be flipped to the White Sox.

Whew.

After watching Trever pitch lately, the Sock would have actually gotten worse in the deal with the inclusion of Miller...

I have been out of town and not following anything the last few days. So, Kenny and others are making deals and the GM of my fucking team is sitting there with his thumb up his ass, terrific.

Just stupid ass WWN. How does this trade make this team better for this SEASON?I look at it for freeing up money for next year.Cotton Club Kenny says he that the AA pitcher has been on the Sox radar for some time, but does he help this team more than Jackson on the 2011 White Sox?
