Don't like this signing. Feel like we just got Moose II and we are looking for a Number 1?

Not the best route runner. Which is what I always thought was the Martz system? and not sure he has the best hands?

Please prove me wrong.

I hated him when he was on Dallas popping up and throwing the first down sign when his team was getting their ass kicked all year. I would have been happier with nothing.

Cue one guy that will come in here saying this is a good move by the Bears and the best of the available guys left (he's not).

At least Jay has an extra ring he can give him to make him feel better.

All said, he is still better than Rashied Holmes

But are the combination of he and Spaeth better for the overall passing game than Rashied and G.Reg?

Good question.

A lot of this depends on what Roy makes. If it isn't much, I think the upside of him coming close to what he did in Detroit with Martz is worth it.

He is a big WR, which I think the Bears need. Hopefully the motivation is there, because it didn't seem like it was in Dallas.

The big thing is Spaeth going downfield. Have no idea why I watched so much of this guy but he didnt make many catches and granted Heath Miller was the primary guy, but 17 catches was his high in 2008, his rookie year. Since then been single digits.

Overall, will say the WR's are better, just not by much.

Nah. Not a Roy Williams fan. I would have rather had the dude from Jacksonville.

He still won't make any catches, he'll do what Manumaleuna couldn't. I think what he meant was, will the improved blocking of Spaeth over Olsen, be worth the difference in receiving between Roy and Olsen/Sheed.

I am going to need a new TV before the season is out because I can guarantee that I will throw the remote thru the screen after Williams pops up and does the first down signal while down 38-10 in the 4th qtr to the Packers.

This move is a bullshit Martz signing again. Why they are letting a guy with one foot out the door make personnel decisions is beyond me...

All that being said, he is now the best WR on the team. How fucking sad is that?

Speaking of Martz.....G.Reg had took some nice parting shots at him.

Questionable decision by the Bears. But hey, who I am to say anything? My team just signed two complete nutjobs.

Child please!

I'll happily be the first in the "pleased with the signing" section.

Finally they are giving Martz the opportunity to prove what he can do by actually giving him what he needs, and all people can do is bitch about a WR that's known for making a big to-do after making a first-down. Christ forbid a Bears receiver is known for first-downs.

I think it's a good chance to take. He doesn't have to be that good to overtake the overrated Johnny Knox and he's clearly going to be an upgrade over whoever else they were planning on throwing out there. Williams, Knox, and Hester as the third receiver gives Jay some good options.

It's a desperation move by a team that has really messed up the position but it's a good move.

Ok Ill bitch about the guy not being good AND being the WORST of all the other guys that are avab. Mike Sims Walker and Plexico are still out there along with Braylon Edwards. Why do we have to settle for the worst of all the guys left? Hey we upgraded our punter.

So, you want the guy that's been out of the league for a couple years because he shot himself in the leg over a guy walking in to a system he was very successful in and is completely familiar with, thus negating any concerns about a learning curve?

Really? Really?!?

I still think he needs a OL to show what he can really do. He tried to be the mad bomber last year and it blew up in his face.

Like it. Can't hurt. Everybody bitching about it are the same people that bitch about the Bears not signing big-name WR's. He also should be able to help the bears score inside the 5-10 yd-line, which was damn near impossible for them last year.

He was pretty damn good in Detroit, he was just annoying. He sucked in Dallas. Because Dallas sucks.

Mike Sims-Walker is the annual "I've never actually watched this player or know anything about him but I don't hate him yet and now I want him a lot" free agent. See also: AJ Otagwe last year.

If you think Plexico Burress would be a better signing you are just batshit insane. He is going to be 34 when the season starts and has been out of football for two years.

Braylon Edwards and Roy Williams are remarkably similar in most ways. If Williams costs less because he wasn't drafted fourth overall and because he didn't have a handful of huge games with Derek Anderson against the Cincinnati Bengals, then Williams is the right signing.

I sort of agree with DT. The WR spot on the bears is so bad that of course he'll help. But he won't be anything close to great or a game changer. In no way does he come close to solving the Bears WR problems going forward

What? I've watched Sims Walker, as I'm sure most have. He's a better player than Roy. Thats why Bears fans want him more. Pretty clear cut

OK, but who does? The number of free agents that will solve your problems at the X position is incredibly small every season. There's exactly one of them this year, and he plays cornerback.
